We saw a nice sized rattler while climbing to the luge last monday. Stretched across the trail, could have been bad for one of us.

I love snakes! I can't wait for more encounters this seoson.

Saw a good size rattler on an Ojai ride today. A buddy of mine was climbing the right side (hill side) of the fire road and I was on the left about five feet back. I heard what I thought was a little rock slide then heard the rattler. As I looked over he was coiled up and instantly struck at my buddy as he passed. Luckily he missed him by a couple feet. I have to say I've never seen one in action and it was pretty cool. By the time I stopped and got my camera out he was across the road and down the other side.

I've seen rattlesnakes at Turnbull the last 2 times I've ridden there. The grass is super high there right now on the sides of the trail and it's scaring the bejeezus outta me. #-o

I had a very vivid dream a while back that i got bitten by a rattlesnake. I could feel it bite me. It was scary as crap.

Came up on these 2 saturday, because of the high grass, I didn't see the first one until my front tire was on the bridge. Crapped my pants and peddled a bit to get away, that's when I saw the second one on the bridge, lucky for me the snake was not in the mood to strike, because I was definitely in striking distance. I was scared of sticks on the trail the rest of the ride.

    snakebite

Most of the medical folks will tell you to concentrate on getting to a hospital or treatment asap. Without the proper IV meds, you can't do much yourself, except for keep the bite below the heart. A constricting band is a last ditch resort, but can be dangerous is misuesd.
