Immediately after being bitten cut off the apendage. If it's just on the hand cut the whole arm off just to be sure. Then look around on the ground for a big stick. Light this on fire and stick it into the whole where your leg or arm used to be and that should stop the bleeding. Make sure to put a band-aid on when this is complete to make sure no infection gets in. After that go hang out in the parking lot and show everybody your new scar but be careful I heard chicks dig scars and with one that big, they'll be climbing all over you!

    every ride

Maybe I just ride the wrong trails, but the last three consequtive rides I have come across rattle snakes in the single tracks 6 inches from my feet. Always on the climb. I am slow on climbs so this bothers me. Also Is it Bear Season More than ever before? Came face to face with a Bear the last 2 rides, Glendora Mtn and Marshall this Sat both on the trail as I went downhill and almost Physically ran into them around corners. What up?

Haha....I came across 2 snakes at Daley Ranch today. No biggie, I didn't bite um. Seemed like a good excuse to use a Samuel L Jackson reference.

Which good north county trails allow night riding? I haven't done that in a long time.

Actually in the summer time I have come across a couple of snakes at night. It's a little more spooky when that stick you are about to ride over suddenly moves... #-o
Just want to give you something else to worry about.

Yeah, most snakes are night hunters! They also like the warmth that asphalt or
bare dirt radiates hours after the sun sets.

I really don't like rattlers at all either, you should try early morning rides when its cool. I'm usually riding by 6 am but then again I get up around 4 am at start my day...:-k

Snakes don't care how tight fitting your riding outfit is or how you just beat your fastest time at Aliso. They just kick back and enjoy the sun rays.

Uh...snakes are on the road too...last two weeks had smallish rattlers scooting through the bike lane on the top portion of the Orchard Hills loop...have also seen quite a few casualties in the bike lanes in Anaheim Hills, Santiago Canyon, and along SART...I thought I only had to use gaiters off road to keep from being bitten.

So if the snake looks happy and has a smile, he or she is non venomous.....however if the snake has a frown and look grumpy he is venomous. Good to know!
