If you haven't yet, go in and read SDYeti's report on her & Dan's recent river raft trip:

Now to business: Moutain River Adventures (the same company that does the Cannel Plunge MTB runs out of Kernville) has some great river trips on the lower Kern River.

These are relatively inexpensive for a once in a life time experience and it's close by (cost of gas!). We can put together our own group (STR, of course). I wanted to see who would be interested in going sometime later this year... maybe a July or Aug weekend.

Let me know if you are interested.

Interested!!!

Considering most of us mtb riders are adrenaline pumped crazies, whitewater rafting is a natural fit!

YES!

I would love it and I am sure Linda would too! Is any special gear or experience required? We've never done anything like this.

Just please don't do it July 4-13th. [-o-]

The river raft company furnishes everything for the rafting.... if we do a 2 day trip which are really a complete blast, you have to bring your sleeping bags, pads, clothes and personal hygene. Linda would love it. Ranger Nancy (wife) really enjoys it and she's afraid of the water. I'm thinking late July or early Aug, maybe???

Just out of curiosity, what is the approximate cost for the rafting excursion per person?

A few of us do an annual trip on the South Fork of the American River every year. Whichever outfit you go with, you're going to have a blast.

Our trip is ususally a 2-day trip that starts in or near Placerville - ends at Folsom Lake.

Grasshopper Rachel...

Great idea, but my wedding is Aug 2nd :)

What's your point???... there should be no problem here... go hang out for a weekend of river rafting with your STR buds .... or, marry John??... what's to decide?? :-k
