For the book readers on STR, what are you reading?

Moby Dick... it's a lot to chew on... but a good read that will test your attention span and vocabulary... full of sage wisdom

Started Moby Dick here too. My son finished an abbreviated version of it in his junior reader collection and it piqued my interest. While I am familiar with the story it is one of those classics I never read. I downloaded it to my reader, all 540+ pages. Damn, Melville is verbose. He spent the first 5 pages just to state that Ishmael loves the water. So far I am enjoying it. It certainly promises to fill what little free time I have.

Read the Hunger Games series this summer and was blown away. I went into the first book tentatively, afraid that it was gonna be more tween crap like the Twilight series. So glad I was wrong. I chewed through that first book in hours then got in my car and drove to the book store to buy the second.

The Hunger Game series was an entertaining read. I blew through all the books in a pretty short period of time. Most recent book I finished was "A Game of Thrones" which was great. Working on the 2nd book in that series now "A Clash of Kings"

Recently listened to these audible books:

The End of Overeating - David A. Kessler
Change Anything - Joseph Grenmy

Just last week finished In the Wake, by Per Petterson.

Still working on Big Sur and the Oranges of Hieronymus Bosch, by Henry Miller.

Finished House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski.

good book, interesting, but weird. The format of the book is rather unconventional and takes some getting used to, but its pretty good. fair warning though: its written like a scholarly journal, and you need to be ready for footnotes from hell...

Finally I'm reading The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. I really want to understand the hype about this author and his books, that's the reason why I want to try it! And I even got it on sale, therefore I lost nothing when I dislike it. Although I think I will like it since it's so well-known and there even exist these special Dan Brown tours in Rome... it has to be good! ;)

Currently reading the CAD standards for a new client at work. Reading for fun... pffft. I like my books more artistic.

Applied Behavior Analysis by Cooper, Heron, and Heward
Effective Practices for Children with Autism by Ruzzo and Wilczynski
Applied Behavior Analysis in the Classroom by Schloss and Smith
(Have to read and retain in 8 weeks)

And for fun

Mindfulness by Williams and Penman

"Life" Keith Richards

I really need to get to this one. Definitely going to do the audio book.

I've recently been on a fun biography kick. I tend to listen to books because I am in the car, a lot.

"Bossypants" - Tina Fey Super fun, all though she is a total pinko commie. (read by Tina Fey)

"God No" - Pen Jillette He's an atheist and damn proud of it. I enjoyed it more for the stories (read by Pen Jillette)

"Steve Jobs" - Walter Isaacson I am a total Apple geek. I loved the insight

"The Areas of My Expertise" and "More Information Than You Require" - John Hodgman These are books of made up knowledge. THe audio books are great because John Hodgman brings in Jonathan Colton and some other friends. Had a great time with these books (read by John Hodgman)

I need an epic series like "A Song of Ice and Fire" to blow through. Somebody recommended "Pandora's Star" Has anyone read it?

Got Sucked In....Hunger Games....fun, easy to read I call Grilled Cheese books....just mow through em.
Not real heavy ....although the plight of the hungry / oppressed kinda has me thinking....

Next up....The Forever War...little bit differnt.

[h=1]Tear Down This Myth: How the Reagan Legacy Has Distorted Our Politics and Haunts Our Future by Will Bunch[/h]
pretty interesting read about what Reagan really did while in office (grew govt, raised taxes, was pragmatic, etc) vs. the myth of how wonderful he is as portrayed by the modern Republican party.

The Kingkiller Chronicle

I may be a little late to the party, but I recently discovered Patrick Rothfuss's seriers; "The Kingkiller Chronicles"

"Day One: The Name of the Wind"
"Day Two: The Wise Man's Fear"

I, as usual, went for the audio book format. The books are read by Nick Prodehl.

I can not wait for "Day Three: The Doors of Stone" to come out in May of 2013.
