Mountain Lion at Whiting

Im so disgusted with humans and our greed that I will leave it at that.

"I don't hate people. I just feel better when they're not around."--C. Bukowski

I don't see this ending well for the cat. I'd love to see what an expert in lion behavior has to say. It's hard to believe it would stay in such a small territory much longer... And so what if they relocate it. What about the other couple dozen big cats in the Santa Anas; some of them are bound to roll through Whiting in the near future. Then again, it was always a bad idea to have a little island of undiluted nature surrounded by the OC. Might as well pave over Whiting and put in another strip mall.

Wilderness without the "wild" part is just a park.

Hey Doug - I'd sweep for you! Love Edison, know the trails well - still need coaching to clean one of the drops and you're a GREAT coach snd encourager. I would ride Whiting today and every day this week no problem. That kitty was obviously after something that coyote was hiding, most likely pups. It could have ran away - but Momma's don't do that.

Common sense folks, if you ride the Luge or anywhere in the Santa Ana's - you've been watched and evaluated by the furry population.

That's not the African plains.. it looks like Serrano trail to me

Riding santiago.. Weir couple weeks ago...weekday..not single rider anywhere...by myself... Saw a deer...beautiful..but next time Im keeping my eyes openl

Watching NBC right now the commercial for the news at 11PM shows the video.. knew it wouldn't take long for this one to hit mainstream news..

Once again, greed by saying your baby has more right than a mountain lions baby to life.

Yup. Sorry that bums you out dude. I don't consider it a right just a technological advantage I might have on the food chain. A sort of instinct to do what that Coyote did. Maybe that Coyote should have shut the hell up and spoon fed the Mountain Lion its young instead of being a greedy bastard.

Or is it ok for Coyotes to be greedy?

A bunch or rangers in the upper lot (locked) channel 9 news van out side the gate, ranger trucks at the bottom of the trail, SO and channel four choppers buzzing now and then..... looks like they are tracking him tonight. Lets hope its a dart in the ass and a tracking collar vs.... well you know... Treated like king by the lapd....

Ehhh. No sure of your point. But I will leave it at that. I have learned arguing on here is a waste of time and passing judgement is even worse.

Live in Portola Hills, still some helicopter action, off and on past couple hours. I was just on this trail twice yesterday, I want this kitty captured already!

A friend walked up the street from his house and spoke to the ranger hanging out near water tower. I guess they shot bean bags at it today. Lion replied with a big FU, went about 50 feet, turned around and glared at him. Bad move kitty, run along before an amp'd up fish and game dude gets too excited.

Now what is that supposed to do? Is that like human avoidance training?

BTW: the kitty in the vid also looks pretty full. Why bother with a yapping coyote when you've just eaten?

I heard on FB that they caught the mountain lion last night, and it was relocated into the Wilderness. Whiting is open again.

So, I am wondering if those that it was no big deal still think so assuming they were shooting bean bags at it and it was not leaving? For it to stare down a large group of riders that was a good sign something was up with this lion.
