Just moved to Costa Mesa/Newport

Hi all. I just moved down here to the OC from the glendale/La Crescenta area. Im starting to get to know some of the trails around here and i have no complaints. El Moro and Aliso Canyon are the two places ive been that are near me and Aliso is probably on my top 5 all around places to go so far.

Any recommendations for the area around me would be greatly appreciated. I rode BMX throughout high school and part of college, and got into MTB about a year ago. All I have to say is im bummed i didnt make the jump to this type of riding earlier.

It seems like you guys here at STR have a great site and some awesome information. Glad I joined.

:welcomeon't forget LCW - some very nice technical downhills! You can combine all 3 parks (Aliso, El Moro, LCW). Travel a little further and you can do Whiting Ranch, or Santiag Truck Trail/Old Camp/Luge or combine them both for a really fun loop!

As mentioned above, Laguna Coast Wilderness Park is adjacent to El Moro and Aliso you can link them together for variety.

Bigger mountains with bigger climbs and descents are close by - The Santa Ana's - San Juan Trail, Holy Jim, Trabuco....

San Juan ("Candy Store" shuttle) is awesome.

Another fun ride is Whiting Ranch>Santiago Truck Trail>Luge>back to Whiting.
