In a funk

Been off the bike for a few months with little to no motivation to ride. Been enjoying spending time with the family, but I'm afraid I'll never get back on my bikes again. Help!

Building a new bike has always worked well for me. Just built a new geared AM bike and all I want to do is go ride it all the time now.

Take a riding trip; hell, just take a riding day trip and get some new dirt in.

Don't make excuses not to ride. I fell into that trap for a while, and it was hard to dig out of.

Funks can be tough to break out of, but you'll be glad you did.

Go ride the berms at Oakley. That should but a smile on your face an rid you of the funk. You just have to do it.

Search deep into your center to discover why you are in a funk.
Become one with your quads. Imagine the joy of the burn on a climb. Quieting the pain and attaining the top.
remember the sensation of wind on your face as you roll downhill.
The sound of your heart beating is your life as one with your naval and your butt.
Focus on the tall tree, the yellow flower, the scent of earth, the crunch of pine needles, the sound of the bird.
Discover the reason for sadness, take meds, cure it!

You're not alone bro. Lately I also have the same problem. Not able to ride every weekend anymore. I guess whenever you have a chance to ride...use it or lose it! Baby steps, do it slowly but surely or start joining NEWBIE ride again. Tijeras Creek ride with nobody left behind is a good idea. (wink wink).

Seriously, take your family ride with you and have fun with them. Remember, WE always here when you ready!

This is why I ride:

Find your reason to ride. For the last 5 years I've put aside my other activities and shifted to mountain bikes. Besides the workout and the adrenaline rush. I ride because the mountain biking community is one of the most diverse and social groups I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. Plus the trips to all the cool places to ride are just awesome! Hope to see you out on the trails soon Tony!

So what I read is all of your bikes are for sale, I'll buy all of them for $10.00

or we can go on a ride, how bout a little SS pedal of a trail of your choice.

Family first, ride to make yourself normal.

I already have dibs on his XT brakes. Keep your grubby hands off!

Tony

I have been in the same boat. Busy with family and all sorts of other stuff. I have been doing more 4x4 stuff in the vehicle lately and that has started to make me miss the bike. My advice would be to go take a hike or something that lets you see the mountains and that might get the fire started.

maybe go do a social ride and start all over again :?:

For me when time starts to become rare and there's not enough of it in the day to ride and I've got family or other commitments on the weekends I switched and started riding later into the night. I picked up a decent light and started mixing some road and dirt road miles in at night and that's kept me active on the bike when I'd otherwise not want to ride or couldn't find time. Better than staying up late watching TV and a good workout helps me get a better night's sleep.

Great video !!

Tony riding DH - ahahahahahaaaa

I love you mannnn!!!! Let's do a heckle fun ride, with the HAB crew - Colin has a fun crew too. Ride, smide --- come out for the giggles and hugs! Like Gene, I have so many things going on - and other things that pull me/my time. For me, riding is great and tons of fun - but my life is about the peeps and what we do together.

P.S. How's Chinh doing? We need a social hour to catch up! The F-loop backwards - then sideways, and round-a-bout is always good for a giggle on a single speed and makes great for chit-chatting.

Do it right, SS your first ride back! That will show you to not ever quit, 'cause coming back kicks your ass. Besides we need a guide around Bonelli.

Hahahaha. The one thing I liked about SS was if people saw you riding it, you're a badass for singlespeeding. If people saw you walking, its okay cause SS is hard on steep hills and you're still a badass
