A few weeks ago my Superlight started creaking. I addressed the usual problem areas, but it turned out to be a little more difficult than I had anticipated. It took a couple weeks to decide it was the fork. Hmph.

The fork was now 13 months old, one month out of warranty. I took it to Shop A, and they said it was going to cost about half the retail price of a new fork. I went in to Shop B, and the owner showed me how to reproduce the creak definitively, and said mine would not fail catastrophically in the time I would be riding the bike. He's a smart dude, so there was no reason to doubt him. Still, I can't stand creaks, so it seemed I would be shelling out some serious coin.

Coincidentally, a bloke on STR just happened to be selling an almost identical fork for a good price. I was back to riding silently and only a little poorer.

So I called Fox and explained how although the fork was 54 weeks old when it started making noise, it fell far below my expectations for longevity. The dude told me to send the fork in, and they would look at it. So I did.

Well guess what? There was a package waiting for me this afternoon when I got home, and they had installed a new crown casting. How about that?

On one hand, their product didn't live up to my expectations, but on the other, they resolved the problem to my satisfaction. A consumer can't ask for anything more.

I literally destroyed everything on the internals of my Fox Talas which was almost a full year out of warranty. I sent it in to see if it could be repaired. They called me and asked what I was riding that would cause this much damage. I told them Mt Wilson Trail in the San Gabriels. I heard him tell some other folks and he told me he'd get back to me with a quote on the repair. They never did. About 3 weeks later my fork showed up at no cost to me. They told me I broke about everything that could be broke and told me they were looking foward to riding Mt Wilson Trail.

I've had Fox come through on a Talas and DHX coil shock with excellent service both times. I hear the bad stories too though so maybe it's hit and miss?

Glad to hear you were taken care of.

That's awesome! Did you eat it on the trail or did the trail itself just wreck the fork?

Either way serious gnar :bang:
