Which lot is the "Tree Lot"? Is it the one at the corner of Blackstar and Silverado - or is it the lot that's right next to the first gate (farther down Blackstar)?

Muchas Gracias

It's the one at the corner of Silverado and Blackstar. Turn left on Blackstar then left again and park in the gravel lot by the Xmas tree lot.

Ha! Much longer and taller than my silly climb!

I'm not an SS'er, but I read online that 16 is too hard for B* but that 18 was about right. Of course I suppose that depends on the rider.

I'm usually just glad to be able to go up in my middle chainring in front and have it either in granny or one down from there.

Going to the top of B* isn't too bad, and you get breaks in the middle. It's more of a mental thing in my opinion. There are two hard climbs that make up Blackstar. As long as you keep things in perspective, you can usually tough it out--but that's on a geared bike. I can always bail out to small / granny.

But this sounds like it's going to be a mellow paced ride with some regroups, so it might not be a bad time to try getting to Beek's if you have'nt done that yet. I wish I could go but I can't make that date/time.

I am dealing with a shoulder issue as well. What does that stuff do for you? Does it just provide temporary relief which means it just lets you forget about the pain for a few hours, but the source of the pain is still there? How is this different from, say, Bengay?

Can anyone point me in the right direction on Geoladders (distance and elevation gain) (B*and Skyline)? I hammered out a 25 minute Northridge>Sycamore climb at CHSP on my SS yesterday, which is 4.5 miles and 1,400 ft. of elevation gain. Is this similar? Is this SS suitable (32t x 17t 26")?

I might show up as I work down the street and have wanted to try Blackstar for a while.

32x17 on a 26er is a tad steep, but should do you just fine for B* and Slyline. I know how you ride, and you'll be fine. There's some recovery for the legs in the Hidden Valley portion of B*, and Sky Line is shorter and not as steep as B* IMO. I'll be on the SS (32x21 29er), and I'm pretty positive you're much stronger of a rider than I.

I'm with Sheena - I'll be at the gate, ready to ride at 6:00. Lights in the pack if needed. Still don't know which bike tho :-k
