I just got my bike out this afternoon and it needs air in tires, shock needs pumped up a bit and the front fork as well.

I'll lube the chain tomorrow night or maybe when I get there.

I hope I still remember how to ride.

Looking forward to Saturday. The weather is cooling down quite a bit, so you guys may need a layer or two for Saturday morning.

The fire road is a little sandy for the first mile or so, but overall the trails are in excellent shape.

I was wondering how sandy it was on the single track myself as I'm not a fan of sandy. I don't mind loose dirt but that sandy stuff just sucks.

I hope my bike isn't mad either.. I don't need it giving me any attitude tomorrow and tossing me off.

As predicted, all my other buddies that were going to go have cancelled so it's just going to be the regulars from here.

I want to plan a ride next sunday so I'm open to suggestions. Something not too dangerous as they might actually join me on the ride but something a beginner can learn something on at a mild pace. I don't want to discourage them right off the bat.

2 are relatively new to mountain biking to my knowledge
1 is a good biker but hasn't ridden in a while
1 is not new to riding but is a beginner level rider offroad

Sullivan Canyon would be my suggestion. Not too horrible a climb, except for the last 1/2 mile or so, and the descent is laugh-out-loud fun.

This can be done as a 10 mile out and back, or you can add miles by linking other trails out there together.

I'm game. Are you up to be a tour guide? I was hoping to get the same group that goes tomorrow, to go next weekend on sunday.


*Edit: Are you talking about the Westridge trail? It's next to a houseing area in Santa Monica? and if your not there early you'll have to ride/walk for a while to get to it?

The trail goes down a concrete paved road to a little canyon and then it's mostly uphill and you end up at the top and a bend around to take you up to a fireroad? I rode the westridge trail once and if this is the same one..yea the last 1/2 mile is a pita to climb. We ended up walking most of that part.

forecast on ktla says rain.

I guess we shall see in the morning. Will head out there at 7 and see whats up when we get there.
