Marshall Canyon is pretty nice, like CHP to 4 Corners.

I don't think it's a good idea for a beginner to do marshall. The climbing can be discouraging. It should be fine for advanced newbie/intermediate

Just went to Marshall yesterday with two newbies and they were able to make it just fine. the reward is the down hill back to the park. Planning on hitting it up again soon. need plenty of hydro since the heat is bad on that top ridge.

The 1st part is super easy compared to Turnbul. The 2nd part(out of the shade) is about the same. Worth going for sure.

Are you looking for trails somewhat similar to Fullerton Loop. Santa Rosa Plateau is a great place. Very beginner friendly ride with some slighty technical sections which are optional if you wanna test yourself (Stevenson, Manzanita). Tapia Canyon, Stough Canyon and Peter's Canyon are also good.

Edit: I meant to quote beatlegina

Great ride at the fully loop newb ride, first time there and I already want to go back. My brother and I really appreciate the hospitality. Blindman_22, thanks so much for the assist with the chain. I have someone else to thank but don't know his handle on the forums. Nice talking with zerogravity at the shop. I'll get everyone's names down pretty soon. Looking forward to the turnbull newb ride coming later this month!

I think this is my 3rd time posting in this thread now. I recently acquired a road bike so have been spending most of my little bike time on that due to the ridiculous heat. I went OTB a few weeks back on my MTB and mangled up my bike something good. So tomorrow AM for my b-day present to myself I am going bike shopping. Looking at hard tails this time around as I don't benefit from the rear suspension really, plus just don't have the funds for that.

Anyone out in the Simi area? My local spot has been Big Sky trail. Hope to see ya out there!

Have fun on your shopping trip. The closest I get to Simi Valley is the occasional jaunt into the Santa Monicas.

I really miss Dino! Homie for life. Some of the people and friends I have met here have changed my life -- truly AMAZING, caring, supportive, and a pleasure to share life with...that said - the new influx of intolerance has become a deterrent to participating.

Unfortunately, don't have much free time with 3 grandkids and 1 kid in high school with sports. Don't have much free time to get out much on weekends during the season.

Guess I'll re-think how I can give back to this place that had given so much in the past.

    Hugs big guy!

EDIT - oh yeah, I'm a girlie from Mission Viejo that LOVES Snow Summit Bike Park with a passion (almost more than hubby - definitely better than the snot-nosed teenager) and have recently become entirely addicted to riding a single speed on all the local trails.

Whenever I think I can't make my SS (opps, single speed - not Slope Style...that's for Yeager Mesa and shuttle runs) my all-around ride, I think of some that I have met here that have truly inspired me.

And I always are looking for a way out of my grind for Taco Tuesday or ring-a-bell at OTH and think about the fun every Thursday night that happens at the loop, I make it out every free thursday I have.

And Dino - never been to Turnbull or the gabs yet, need a guide!

Hit a Sunday FLoop ride w Dino; it's beginner friendly (if you're a noob - you didn't state if you were so I'm assuming). Dino will never leave your side (yes, it can be annoying!! LOL). And his words of encouragement, patience and endless enthusiasm will make you come back again and again.....

Post a pic of your bike when you get it.

My legs and riding ability are that of a noob...lol. but ive been riding for about 2 years. Took 6 months off because of baby. Trying to regain my legs back now, but it feels like I started over from the beginning.

I'll definitely post pics when I get it :)
