We could actually reach some of these in a reasonable amount of time.

Bryan! This HAS to be your next pixie bike!

the back wheel is too big though! nothing says awesome like a 12" wheel...

in other news, this thing is a sweet little ripper. it truly is something special. yeah, those are 10 spoke wheels for maximum stiffness and durability.

Short artical with a 15minute vid...well worth the watch if you appreciate how machines come too life. Back in the day, our grand parents (and for a lot of you, your great grand parents) sure knew how too build things that last!

awesome! Cool to see all the work that goes into making something like that, as well as the liberal use of metal shapers. I also like how they just smashed a camera at the end...

Brownie, my shop works repairing that kinda stuff. It's amazing how much has stayed the same even with CNC machines. While I don't have forging and casting equipment, we're called on to repair or duplicate large castings and huge rollers daily. A decade + ago we got a job to make a replacement drive wheel connecting rod for a refurbished steam locomotive - a really cool job. RustyIron (Rob) here on STR has a hobby restoring old engines - http://rustyiron.com/ enjoy his site. For as often as I work on pretty big stuff, I'm always amazed how people (and their machines) create the super small parts.

I know you're a machinist too. It was funny to see the slow "feeds and speeds" shown in the machining operations with old, high-speed tooling.

Propaganda from my brochure - that's a 4" diameter boring bar for reference
