SART Trail Conditions(merged-updated 08-13-15)

This section below seemed sketchier than normal. The trail is becoming more off camber on the outside from riders wheels sliding over the edge, so the usable bench is getting narrower. This was the first time I've ever dabbed here, but I had my front wheel slide out on me and then bumped my shoulder into the root as I recovered - almost sent me off balance over the side.

I rode the main section this last weekend - that section you described is pretty sketchy and can catch you unawares if you come round the corner with speed - the trail just wants to drag your wheels down the side. Took this screen-cap from the video footage of my ride - you can see where it sucks you down to the right just ahead of the roots.

Otherwise, the trail is in great shape despite the lightning scaring the crap out of me in the morning when I rode from Heart Bar.

Sart

Anybody know the condition after yesterdays downpours in the Forest falls area??

Ride bit yesterday just before the big rains, and it was in great shape. Nice and tacky in most places, still dry in a few places.

Temps were nice. Got rained on a few times, but never needed to put a jacket on.

Only saw saw a few other riders out.

Got done before the flash floods came through.

To the point. From Glass road staging; starting here and heading west toward Middle Control after that 3/4 mile flow you will be greeted with a VERY large downed tree. Unfortunately, this fell along the trail, maybe two first downs if you will. Fortunately it's at the very end of a flow segment.
Dang, It was awesome out there today and not a single rider spotted.

I failed to mention, please be considerate of the many incense cedar seedlings that are growing when you pick your go around route. Please don't step on them, they're abundant and will take off with this deadfall.

thank you, steve

Nope. But with two weeks off, I'm sure to find out soon & it's looking pretty dang good. Next weekend appears teasing.

I'm confident it will be fabulous at this point. Saturday for me.

Have an awe inspiring adventure and be safe.

I road from MC to Glass and back on 1/19. Chipped a tooth climbing over a giant pine tree that has fallen along 30ft of the trail, at about the halfway point.

I wish I had the ambition to remove this tree however, it's too dang much. Plan to ride tomorrow and access the dang thing. Perhaps I'll cut some of it back, it's fun in a way. (Why don't locals care more),(spandex&waterbottles) big whoop.
Hopfully tomorrow , Steve

Did some work clearing this nuisance up today, good to see people enjoy.
Gabe is my witness, he helped. Beautiful out there today.

Any one know how the snow is on Sart?

Absolutely zero snow. Perhaps your group could man handle the one deadfall on Southfork. No tools required, just grunt and angst will probably do it. Some moisture in the trail, zero mud......ENJOY!
