i don't have a picture of it, but I love rocking my 06 hardrock comp. It's a pretty cheap bike ($300 yeahhhH!), but it taught me so much. No qualms about riding it down crazy things, as that just makes me appreciate the hill so much more. It also slows things down to a pace at which i can think and keep up with the bike. can't say the same for my FS, which i need to rely on instinct to get me out of hairy situations.

but that bike is going to slowly become a nutty AM HT. I'm planning on a TALAS 36, 1x9 with X9, some beefy wheels, and 2.5 tires front and back. should be immensely brappable with a 69* HA at full extension (roughly) :bang: still be able to drop the fork down to stock geometry for climbing etc.

David, you gonna race that? It should shave at least five minutes off of your time at Southridge, you're probably gonna fly up the paved road climb.

I'm curious on the frankenbike, how does that ride? It seems pretty odd with the handlebars and rigid fork, is it harsh?

It's cool to see all of the HT's and see everyone out trying all types of bikes. I remember reading in mags about 10 years when people were worried that HT's would disapear due to the 'new' squishy sensation. I love my HT (I ride 4x on it). Re-reading this thread has me looking at raising the seat and taking it out for a trail ride!

The Carbon Fork takes a lot of the vibration out and the larger tire is cool to.
The frame is Magnesium so it is really stiff to start.

I'll admit that on a really long downhill my hands can get a bit tired but if you ask any of the crew that followed be down Trabuco Creek on Memorial Day they will tell you that it descends like a bat outta hell.

Just got back from riding the San Gabriels up here with a half dozen other bubs. Climbs great, and old trails are all new once again on that fork. I feel like I just rode off 1,000 curbs.

i've had it about a month now built like that. I raced it once at fontana and did knock off about 5 minutes there, but it (or I) needs more gears on that big climb there. Otherwise it's just right. :bang:I love the way the bike feels and fits me.

The fork. Not so much. Getting replaced this summer with the new reba, or more likely, someone's used reba who's buying the new one. But i'll keep this one around to put on once in a while, just because. I don't trust the carbon and the speeds I hit the front brake at, plus i'm already near the weight limit for that thing.
