posting up to let other know of this change....but also have some questions.

been using motion based for a while now and was aware the impending change to garmin connect but had no light of sight on timing and just received the following email suggesting days are numbered for MB.

anyone have any real experience with both and thoughts on what garmin connect does better/worse. clearly the layout (look/feel) is a bit mo' sleak but not sure about the functionality. again just looking for some free insight.

also really curious about the comment below on migration . suggests 80% but appears they ported over less than 1/2 my data and mostly a bunch of rides that took place years ago but nothing since may to gc??? anyone know the rational for moving stuff "randomly" and the old sh!t and not the recent??? anyone have better results or experiencing the same

Dear MotionBased customer,

Garmin Connect – the next generation of MotionBased -- is now open to all Garmin fitness devices. Garmin Connect offers a better experience with a cleaner user interface and improved site performance that you’ll enjoy when analyzing your workout data on new and improved features.

As of today, 80% of all activities at MotionBased have been migrated to Garmin Connect. As a result, you can login at Garmin Connect with your MotionBased username and find most of your activities. The remaining 20% will be migrated over the next few months. Most of these are larger activities which take longer to transfer.

Friday 31 July 2009 will be the last day that MotionBased will accept uploads from Garmin fitness devices. Therefore, we encourage all MotionBased customers who have a Garmin fitness device to take advantage of the new site and make the switch to Garmin Connect now, where you’ll find most of your activities already waiting.

For those of you using Garmin outdoor handheld devices, MotionBased will still be available to you until Garmin Connect supports those devices in the Fall 2009.

Thank you for your patience during the build and release process. We know it has been worth the wait.

It seems the GC is porting over the shortest rides first. GC has only 16% of a year (2007).

Another point: the handle used on MB is gone. You only have the handle used when signing up to Garmin. Now I can't see what Weir is doing.

GC is no faster than MB. ](*,)

GC is no faster than MB. ](*,)

That sux... especially if they now have only 16% of rides ported over. What will happen when they get everything going? Probably another meltdown? I gave up on MB a while back, and was hoping for an improvement with the change. We'll see...

Edit: Nice... I just went to check it out and got:

I've been using GC since they opened it and I like it a lot, I was lucky since I've only had my 305 for a few months so there weren't a lot of files to transfer.
