Magicshine 1400 Lumens Lightset

I have a 900 on my bars, it's great. However, I don't always want to go where my bars are pointed! Thinking of bar mounting a 1400 and helmet mount the 900. But could just as easily pick up another 900. Just want to see what owners and demo riders thought.

Exactly the reason why I'm interested in a 1400.

I feel that the 900 is enough, but ever since I bought my 900, I always thought it could use a wider beam pattern. Anybody, know if the reflector from the 1400 can be swapped into the 900?

Good question. I feel the same about the 900. A wider pattern would help.

I bought a Magicshine 1400 and experienced the same strobe effect caused by the light bouncing around. Somebody came up with a nice solution on mtbr.com:

The patterns look different according to "odtexas'" post/pictures; however, I havent actually seen the MagicShine (MS) 1400's beam pattern myself, so I dont know first hand..

1st picture below shows the MS-900 on high;

2nd picture shows the MS-1400, with "Dual XPE only High" which I assume is the little ear LED's because he describes it as "Dual" and also mentions that it is "only" those lights;

3rd picture shows the MS-1400 with the "P7 only High", which I know both the MS-900 and the MS-1400 use SSC P7 LED's, so I would assume that its the main beam of the MS-1400;

4th picture states that both the "P7 and dual XPE" are on "High" on the MS-1400.

Comparing the 1st (MS-900) and 3rd (MS-1400) pictures, which seem to be both "P7" LED's on "high", it seems that MS-1400 has a wider beam pattern.. But theres no telling what camera was used, or if the camera was set on auto-adjust, which may auto-compensate for different levels of light, providing an inaccurate means of comparison.
