Last week i saw a guy on pv drive east riding a giant unicycle. Pretty random but interesting nonetheless.

I can't confirm it but I heard that 100 years ago John Irvine rode a Penny Farthing (big wheel) from San Francisco to San Diego. Since there was no paved road along the coast, that would make him the father of mountain biking.
