Bring your Lady to the Fully Loop (Newb Friendly) Fun Ride on Saturday 1-28-12

RSVP Here: http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=3488

Meet 9:00 - roll by 9:15 (chance we'll push out before 9:30)

With so many comments and threads about getting your lady out there...here's a chance to do that.

Remember what it was like to be a newbie out there, too embarrassed to ask, wish you had someone to ask questions and give it a try without feeling like you'd be holding people up or feel foolish. Time to give back and help some new people give this fun sport a whirl.

I started riding a few years ago after not pedaling a bike for 18 years, and would have loved to have the chance for someone to explain what those things (shifters) did and how to use them. Not to mention, which side is the front brake and NOT to use it too much when flying down steep and fun single track (it can really ruin a good flow).

Way too MANY of our riding days went a bit like this (still do):
HIM 'just do this'
ME: 'do what'
HIM: 'this'
ME: 'what exactly did you do to make the bike do that?’
HIM: ‘I dunno, just do this’
ME: ](*,) #-o

Here is a chance to come out and ride and enjoy the trail with some other ladies to encourage and help teach yours. If she’s never ridden a MTB or just getting started (maybe you can even send her out on yours!) this is the time to bring her along.

Or if you’re a girl and looking for some others to ride with, come on out for some fun – encourage others, and find some more riding buddies.

Trail males are allowed and encouraged, but will ride far ahead or behind to fix mechanicals or the like. No smack talking or ‘don’t do that’ – or ‘why did you do that’.

And as always no one will be left behind!

I'm sure there will be a group lunch after riding to mix and mingle and set up more rides!

If this ride proves fruitful, I'll get more going - and with the success of the Newbie B* star ride - there's proof there's a need. Will be hosting a 'nest-step' ride at B*, whiting, O'Neil or the like.

Hope to see some of you out there

Thanks Julie. I will try to get my formerly-addicted, now-distracted wife out there. She seems to enjoy riding with other women as long as there's someone to get her bike off and on the roof of the car (or onto the moving chairlift rack, boo Whistler, yay Northstar).

Please warn everyone about the gnarly culvert that crosses the trail where it meets the pavement path (near the end of the ride after the last big hill/trail around the last hill). >stop and walk over it or bear hard right where it tapers off

I will definatly be trying to get my girl friend out there. I've been getting her out on the paved only so far but shes not opposed to trying the fully loop. Thanks for doing this

I'll make sure Sheena sees this and participates even though I can't.

Damn, wish this was a week later. Sounds perfect for the gf. In for the next one if there is one.

I got the green light she agreed to go and has been really excited for it this whole week were both looking forward to it.
