Hows that for a Title?

My name is Jake and I live in Highland park right on the edge of South Pasadena and am starting to get back into riding my mountain bike.

Funny thing is, that my 04 Spec. HardRock Pro (disc) has been sitting in the closet for 2.5 years unridden. I got it new in 04 and then my daughter was born and that put a big damper on going out. Into the closet it went.

I dug it out and rode it 3 weekends in a row to old town pasadena and back and I think I'm in much better shape than when i first rode it back then.

Anyway.... I'm new to this forum that i found through mtbr.com and hope to meet some people and do some riding in the area.

Mostly a trail kinda guy, fireroads are ok but I like single track trails that remind me of when i was a kid riding my bmx bike in the hills near my house in Pennsylvania that were just wide enough to get through the bushes with minor scratches and stuff with some beautiful views.

Congratulations on getting it out of the closet. I'm sure it was pretty hard.

Welcome! :welcome:

It looks like there are a lot of new members in your area. You could host your first STR group ride!

I will think about getting a group together, but for now I'll stick with going with groups who know where and what they are doing.

I've been on one fireroad when I first got my bike and I wouldn't want to get anyone lost leading them out into god knows where. hahahaha

I live in LA, basically in Culver City. I think there should be some LA County STR rides setup (seems like 99% are in the OC). Unfortunately, I'm not the one to do it because I don't know any of the trails up here really. :(

I read that earlier... some funny stuff.

This saturday I'm fixing my rear tire/tube and getting that on correctly.. I'm a newb to changeing tubes and the tire is not on centered and looks like the rim is bent (from the tire not being set right) and getting a little gear together to take along with me.

I have to take my daughter to her swimming lesson tomorrow but after that, a nice mellow ride up to pasadena and back, stopping by a couple bike shops to check them out and pickup another spare tube and a bike pump.

Sunday though, I'll be up for an easy ride somewhere... I'm still out of shape and don't want to get into anything too hard for a few months.

thanks for the welcome... now it's time to read that mtb magazine i picked up today.

thanks.

I'm thinking of joining some of you on the 8-4-07 beeks ride but I first have to find out how to get there and convince my gf to go along and then find her a bike to rent/ride.

I have a loaner bike she can use if you would like. Let me know

North San Diego here:welcome:

And the above statement is true--most of the rides are OC. I wouldn't venture so far as to say there are "many" outside OC rides. It makes sense though. Most of the members/riders here live in the OC.

Just speaking from my experience, I post rides all the time for north San Diego and usually only 1 person who lives down here shows. I know there are more SD riders here, but they don't often speak up.
