History Of Fullerton Loop

Royce moved in the early 90's like 91 or so.

I was in Junior Highschool and rode with him and Mikedabike, AKA Mike Vogeti quite a bit, Also richard, Chad Hues and John Poorsight.

Those guys would kick my ass up and down the trail all of the time.

Ha! John Poorsight... he could ride your wheel in any condition, but don't let him lead. Very impressive for being legally blind in one eye.

Yeah... Nicholson is in Prescott area and is totally into Rhinos... not sure about Dave Evans.

What is John's real name? I know it is not poorsight but...

Did someone post some pictures of the Loop and its riders from the 70s-80s? I love history, so anything I can learn about my favorite trail is awesome!

I know...I'm late and off the back as usual :P

Along with Richard, there were a few other guys that were part of the Fully loop scene in the early 80's:

Dave Evans, Bob Nicholson, Steve & Bill Boehmke, Billy Broadfoot... I'm sure that I'm missing somebody#-o

Oh yeah! Bob Bacin...

I'll add to that list: Bob Scott, Ben ???, Ken Mathis (the water bottle guy) Chris (La Mirada Schwinn), Mark Grayson, Clay Trager, the Mcmahon brothers
I'll send a link to Nicholson and see if we can come up with some more names, I know I missed some

from Bob Nicholson:
"Hi Billy
That brings back a lot of memories. We sure had some fun times. I remember Dave and me going straight up the flood control wall plus doing the figure 8's. Going down the wall was scary, I always made sure my front brake was in great shape. Ken Mathis is behind me in the picture. Troy S, Larry and Ron M, and Chester H all rode the Fullerton loop."

this pic was from a story in O.C. Register, I'll find it and scan it

and Hi from Billy as well (if you still see him)

the Fullerton Loop, I used it get from my home on W. Amerige the Gemco on harbor and Imperial where I worked (with the bike in my avatar) and more often than not taking the long way home. I kept running into Dave Evans and Bob Nicholson...Bob was always telling me to come with, So one day I did....Wow those "old Guys" where fast, HaHa. but when we got to the spillway behind the Dam....holy smokes they road right up that thing, Dave was doing figure eights on it!!!!
I was hooked right then and there and made every ride I could....good times and good friends.

long live the Fully loop!!!

Sorry to be thread mining but.....
Is this Pat Hadley the same one from Valencia High School that died back in 2013 from a hiking fall???
The article I read says she was a running coach and teacher....

OMG---that dude pictured from that 1985 article was 42, now he's like going to be 73. I wonder if he still rides?

Wow Sierra Club against mtn bikes! Whoda thought? I do not see them often anymore but last time they would not yield and held up their walking poles tips out. I passed them again on the way out screaming down Space, they move pretty fast if YOU show no signs of yielding. It was a blast seeing all those di@kheads scramble off the edge. They are an easy group to recognize, 10 or so old peeps in khaki, ski poles, and wearing those floppy hats.
Happy wide open spaces single trac

Miss n out was the best. I think it was once a month. Thursday chino hills with Richard, John, Margaret, Eddie, and other was a race every time. It was rare that I missed a Thursday Chino Hills rare.
