Well, they just bulldozed the whole thing. Ruts are nearly all gone, one stream crossing is gone as well. You won't recognize the place.

It seems harder to ride. Little patches of sands on an otherwise polished fireroad. Lots of small rocks got strewn about as well.

I spoke to two hikers and they said that they were slipping around too. So it's not just me!

But who knows, it may actually be more interesting once I get used to it.

Road it yesterday evening. Several corners are now super slippery, marbles on glass. It seems like the scraping makes the road worse, especially where there is a rock embedded or where the loose rocks just roll along and rip up the road. If the guy doing the work could recognize what doesn't need to be scraped and leave it alone, things would be a lot better. Although the contract probably says to scrape the whole thing whether its needed or not. A big waste of tax payer money.

Not tax payer money. Claremont colleges pays for this. Twice I've wrote them letters explaining to them about how much better people would enjoy this if we could let it return somewhat back to a nature trail. Response letter was typical....Thank you for your input, but we know whats best, blah, blah, blah. The city recognizes it as a park and helps maintain it, but it's owned by the colleges. We petitioned them with an offer to make some singletrack trails with the help of IMBA, but they wanted no part of this either. I wish I knew who to talk to or why they are so set about turning it into something more enjoyable for all.
