Got stung by a little bastard that got stuck up in my shin pads - right in the back of the knee. Anyone have a good home remedy? I don't think I've ever been stung before in my life. Happened on yesterday's ride, no it is just slightly swollen and itches like a bitch. I've just been keeping it clean and chemical free - hoping it would fix it self in a few hours, but I'm going on 36 hours of no relief. I broke down and got some benadryl tablets and some hydrocortisone cream and took a few tylenol. I'm currently waiting for them to kick in, but does anyone have any secret home remedies? Help is appreciated, this is annoyingly itchy.

I think you suppose to pee on it. :) Don't try this if you get stung on your upper lip!

Just take some Benedryl. Also can try Simply Sleep as the active ingredient is an anti-hystamine with the same dosage as any other hystamine blocker. P.S. You dont carry Benadryl in ur pack? I keep two in there in case stuff like that happens. You aje it right when it happens and it's like it never happened. Unless ur allergic!

Volcomsteban is dead on... Benedryl or any store brand Diphenhydramine. It will help the itching by blocking the receptors. Carying 2 in your pack is always a good idea. Take one at first (25mg) and follow it with a second an hour later when your on the trail if you need it. For the pain and maybe a little bit of swelling relief take 400mg of your favorite Ibuprofen. And its pretty rare for someone to have an allergy to Benedryl. I have only seen one patient in 6 years.

be careful with the benedryl if you have to drive or function the rest of the day. they will definitely make you drowsy and one is enough to knock out some people.

sting eze , if you can find it, or just tough it out and do soemthing to keep your mind off of it. Its a bee sting, not a huge deal

I'm sure thats something like Afterbite. Both would have ammonia or something similar. I think its the acid in it that takes the sting away. For a ghetto fix, vinegar does the same thing as it is acidic.

I've been stung a few times over the years and it always hurts like hell at first but usually subsides within an hour or two. I think the reason your sting is so painful is that it's in that tender area behind the knee.

Not sure as to what is the best remedy but others have made some pretty good suggestions. You could also consider amputating your leg above the knee if all else fails
