whats the best workout to stay in shape, to keep up w/ u youngster on the trail????

I'm also 42 and don't believe that I have anyone to keep up with. I do just fine compared to my younger friends, thank you very much ... if anything, they ask how to keep up with me.

Please go here for futher convincing; "Frenchy" did just fine in the Mountain States Super D Series, in the 30+ years old division (he came in 5th).

I'm more than half his age yet still aspire to be half his equal.

Age is just a number.

So what.

46 and took up DH this year. I climb faster than most of my younger riding buddies, and definitely get 'em on the downhills. You'll find a lot of us mid-lifers on this forum who are denying our age and riding like there's no tomorrow. Go man go :bang: Just remember 'recovery' takes longer, so avoid doing two huge rides back to back.

I just turned 46 and there are people I ride with that are younger and slower/faster and older and slower/faster.

How hard I ride depends on who is in my group that day. The best thing to do is not worry about your age and ride at the threshold of your comfort & ability and enjoy the ride.

Now I'm off to ride with somebody older than me that is about my speed.

See ya'

Fortytwo is a great number. That's about the age when riding just once a week didn't keep me in shape. Riding 2-3 times a week will make all the difference.

Don't worry about the younger guys...the guys in their 40s are the fast ones! In BMX racing, I found the 36-40 class wasn't too hard locally. But when I turned 41, holy crap! The 41-45 year olds are way faster! And I know some guys in the 46-50 class who are just as fast!

I'm 49 I'll be 50 in May. I try to get out and ride 2 or 3 times a week. I just get out there and do my thing...HAVING FUN

I'm 45 and I ride everyday.:) I'm also way smarter and stronger and more humble than when I was a know it all teenager.:)

In January i'll be 48, and I started riding around two years ago. See my photo albums for some of the riding my friends and i do (most of whom are over 40 as well).

I've been off for a week but i'm sure it will feel more like 4 weeks lol fully loop here I come.

I'm 51 and wondering what the heck am I dong, having fun and riding to my capability. What I did discover is giving myself time to recover after a long hard ride, don't over do it.

I'm 57,and try to get out to ride 3-4 times a week.It just keeps getting better.:bang:

Eric, even the loops' gonna hurt! -Lloyd

I'm 58 and ride in the upper 3rd on the uphill, but in the lower 3rd on the DH. Guess I'm just too old to be falling down at speed.
