Chain: £44.95 ($70)
Cassette: £179 ($270)
Brakes: Around £179 a wheel ($270)
Crankset: £399 ($600)
Front derailleur: £70-90 ($105-$136)
Hubs F/R: £99/£199 ($150/$300)
Rear derailleur: £139 ($210)
Shifters: £149 ($225)
Wheels F/R: £369/£449 ($555/$675)

I wonder what the cranks are going be? I heard Shimano makes the core of xtr cranks from material found at Area 51...

Drool.

Interesting gear ratios on the new crankset : Ratios will be 40-28T; 42-30T; 44-30T (M985) and 38-26T (M980)

The new Dyna-Sys is concentrating on gear usability...staying in your front chainring as long as possible and using your rear cluster before needing to shift up or down in the front.

The 3x10 chainrings will be 42/32/24T.

As much as I like the new look, it seems like they made the chainrings very Shimano specific - meaning, it will be almost impossible to use an aftermarket chainring.

Look at the shape of the spider arms:

970 with redesigned rings? and Roadie pedals?

And this really suprises you. Shimano Has been doing this for years......making sure that you have to use their parts and not being compatible with other manufactuerers.

Yeah, I am using non-Shimano rings on my 970 crankset.

I know the 960s have the odd BCDs that are so hard to find, but the spider arms aren't that specific in shape.

Hello. Can't wait for Shimano Boys to send me there full sets of 30 speed. Can't see running anything else, need all the gears they will give me for my Tours and Rides!
