WTB Small Entry level Hardtail w/Disc

I am looking for a used entry level small XC type Hard-tail w/disc preferred (or FS if its not to expensive) for my son. Preferably Specialized Hardrock/Rockhopper but I am open to others.

The most I want to spend is 500 dollars half of which is his money. I was looking at a Rocky Mountain Vertex 10 at Jensons for half off but its 650 after tax which is a little bit out of the budget.

Would you consider a FS frame? I have this one in small in excellent condition. Looks like this:

I would be interested but building from scratch may go over my budget.
