So I'm thinking about building up a road bike for my tiny girlfriend (5'1"). Before committing many hundreds of dollars on an entry level road bike, I would like to rent a road bike to make sure she's interested in it. So here's the proposition: Road bike should be similar to what I would build her: - 48cm in size - Aluminum or carbon (no chromoly) - Integrated brake shifters, tiagra/105/ultegra level - Doesn't have to be women's specific design, but preferred - 700x23 or 700x25 wheels - No eggbeaters; she will not be clipping in for the demo ride. I am looking to borrow for a few days, willing to pay around $30. I can provide a security deposit in the form of cash, or my mountain bike. I know there are shops that will rent, but I like to name my own terms, if I can. Thanks!
The Path has small women's road bikes for rent (215 W 1st St, Tustin, CA). I'm about to rent one for my gf for a day. It's $55, credited towards the purchase of a new bike or frame. I haven't gotten any bites, so I think I'll be renting the bike in a week or so. They have tons of stuff, but mainly mountain bikes. Just make sure you have a backup frame/bike to buy at the Path, in case road biking isn't her thing.
hmm... you don't have many friends listed on your profile page... who do you ride with/know? i have a 48 specialized allez dolce. it's old, but it works & it's mine. when are you planning on this test ride? how many days?
