Turnbull Canyon A-Line mountain lion/bobcat

I don't understand what your advocating. Killing lions or any animal for that matter just so you can ride a bike? Okay, I feel like flying a plane, lets get rid of all the birds.

Not at all.

Since the mountain lion is a specially protected species, if you kill one, even in self-defense, you'll have to answer to the authorities who will decide whether or not you broke the law. I believe this goes too far and places the advantage in the teeth and claws of the mountain lion.

I can tell you haven't bothered to look at the link I posted.

You can call me a mountain lion hater, and I'll call you a tree-hugging hippie (as you originally requested) and we'll drop this right here. OK?

I was just getting my bike from the back yard and saw my beagle getting raped by a racoon, I still cant stop laughing, my dog is traumatized....

Hmm, reminds me of my friends poodle raping their pet rabbit. She said the rabbit arse was tore up. Rabbit didn't survive.

OK, here's my this has nothing to do with this thread comment: Debby Boone's new album is now available on records
and tapes. Where? At the Wherehouse! And participating Licorice Pizzas.
Listen to her hit, "you light up my life" on K-100 FM, that's KIQQ on your dial!

Wildlife Sightings

sorry don't mean to de-rail the thread, but the other day I was hiking with my kid in the Jurupa Mountains (Southridge, Fontana) and we saw one of these guys (long tailed weasel, apparently really common in SoCal):

It crossed the trail right in front of us, stared at us for a while, then took off down some rocks......it was pretty cool....

So I can now add this bad boy to the list of wild-life I've seen in SoCal while hiking/mt. biking but I have yet to see a mountain lion or a bear...

I saw a cute asian girl peeing right before EL. Prieto ends... I could barely pedal after that....

Mtn lions -1

I prefer not to be eaten

Rode Turnbull yesterday... (6p-730p)

I read this a while back and I was paranoid about this trail. I finally decided ride the whole loop. Did 7th Ave loop and the single track that led back to friends st. No sightings but a lot of undescribable noises. LOL I stopped worrying when I saw a cute girl on her ipod jogging the singletracks. :) I believe that in the hierarchy of animal chow, runners before bikers. But I see signs posted up about these cats everywhere, especially the trailhead at JPL.

EDIT: I did notice the gate to 7th Ave Loop was locked and there is a big log blocking the ride in entrance left of the beverly gate.

i also rode turnbull lastnight and was thinking about this thread the whole time. thanks eruizela. lol

Bobcats are not scary. They are not a threat to an adult human. There used to be one in chino hills that was so tame it would sit in the trail, even if you rode past it.

But it is entirely possible to have a mountain lion out there at turnbull. I saw a big one in chino hills and aside from crossing a couple highways turnbull is just a nice stroll along the whittier hills from there.

I got some pics. of that bobcat in Chino Hills.

Ive been there more than a few times and have seen a bobcat and coyote but never a mountain lion. I have seen a few cougars on sunday morning though.

I rember that one. Right in the middle of the trail, wouldn't move a inch as I rode by. I lost the staring contest too with that one.
