So I have a Medium 2012 Ibis Mojo HD and just can't get it to work for me. Frame is about 2 weeks old, no scratched or wear to speak of. If anyone has a Foes 6" bike they might want to trade PM me. Looking for maybe a R7 or a new style FXR, or shaver or something along those lines.

Everyone raves about this frame but I can't get it to work for me...

My riding buddy had the same feeling. He got the shock replaced with a Monarch RT3 Pushed and he's seem to be getting along better with it.

Of subject. But I loved the mongoose Freedrive stuff and many hated it. Just what feels right to you. Now back to the previously discussed question in 2012!

I also liked freedrive....only thing that sucks about was small bump compliance and I think the ibis bikes suffer from the same thing, just not as plush as other designs. They do climb awesome though

ive tried out an hd and it reminds me a lot of my old Rune, a bike that also gets rave reviews but I couldnt quite get to feel right either {tho i had it for a year till it cracked, also its pivots absolutely suck). Suspension leverage curves of rune(v4fp) and mojo (dw link) are very similar, a snappy, "ride-high-in-the-travel"feel, pedals well but feels kinda firm on the descents. Is that what you experienced? I now have a santa cuz butcher ("pseudo-vpp, poor mans nomad) and i like it much better; plusher, rides low and stable. pedals good enough for me, I aint no racer. The leverage curve of vpp is very diffeernt than dw link. But there are many who like the snappier feel of dw and it works well for them.

Yep, this pretty much sums it up. The x-fusion shock does help a lot over the Fox.

Yes, the Teocali skips like crazy on small bumps. But it is a fair trade. It was never bad enough to make me hate the bike. But the KHS is so supple in the small bumps. As far as climbing, give me back my mongoose. The mongoose is more progressive, FSR is more linear.

The cool thing is that you can put the HD in the classifieds and it should sell quickly if you price it under the MSRP. Ibis never lets dealers sell below retail and you don't see many HD frames for sell on the 2nd hand market. I do like DW bikes but I can understand how it isn't for everyone.

    Call me Crazy.

I've been on a Firebird for 2.5 years. I love the way the bike climbs (for a hog), and hitting some of the bigger chunk or drops (for me) it feels real good. But I've never felt is was super plush right off the top. The small bump just seems to rattle the bike around more than it should. My past bike was an Horst Link bike and it felt better on the small stuff, but it did bob more during pedaling.

I wondering if the chain tension induced antibob on the DW link translates some of that chatter to the pedals? I know everyone is big on, "platforms and thresholds on rear shocks only hide bad frame design" thing. For my riding, which is mostly climb until you turnaround, I'm wondering if the opposite argument would be better. Something like this, "If you don't have a good shock with an on/off platform, you need to design a frame that sacrifices small bump"

    Happy Trails,
    Crazy

Were you at Cocktail Rock on San Juan last Saturday? If not, it's kind of funny. I saw the guy who sold me my Foes FXR (sorry I'm bad with names) and he was riding a Mojo. I mentioned the fact he sold me my Foes in which he returned with, ”I wish I had my Foes, I can't clean that rock garden on this thing”
I thought everyone loved the Mojo. I must of seen at least 6 of them that day. Have you tried out the VPP design? Although I was riding my Chumba XCL on Saturday, I have an Intense Tracer that I got after my Foes and I love that bike. The only reason I wasn't riding the Tracer was because I have a heaver wheel set on it.

That's odd, my Firebird seems to be to be a really plush bike, and I've had many different bikes/suspension designs. It's also really good on the small chattery bumps too. I do agree about the Ibis. I had the original Mojo, and it was not a very plush bike, and not stiff at all. I was happy to get rid of it.
