Great Thread DeeZee, But... ...Top 11, eh? Man, that's a tall order. For every one I think of, three more pop up. I mean, how do you include the Clash without the Sex Pistols? Or Crass w/o Discharge? Sham 69 without the Cockney Rejects (or all of the Oi! bands they so clearly influenced--Abrasive Wheels, anyone?)? C'mon! Same goes for this side of the pond, of course. Too much good stuff. I still want to play, though: Buzzcocks X GBH The Damned Adolescents Angry Samoans Social Distortion (Mommy's Little Monster and earlier, though a few jewels popped up later--Sick Boys for one). Angelic Upstarts The Clash Infa-Riot MDC Honorable mentions: Toy Dolls Blitz Chron Gen Dead Kennedys Can't forget post-punk (had to sneak Daniel Ash & Co. in somehow  Bauhaus Joy Division Public Image Ltd. (early PiL--none of that "Rise" crap)
I listened to alot of D.I. and Angry Samoans back in 8th grade and high school. The Social D drummer owns a restaurant here in Long Beach on 4th street called The Pike, it is a cool spot.
The Clash The Misfits Social D Nofx Strung Out Face To face Agent Orange for Sure I cant beleive someone else posted that Floggin Molly THRICE more old then new crap Rise Agianst alot more new stuff
Suburbia (Movie): The Rejected I use to hang out at "The Farm" and "Maximum Rock and Roll Warehouse" in the early 80's San Francisco/Oakland. This a great way to watch some up and comers. A Gig would only cost $6 which included bands like Offspring, Guns 'N' Roses (I know, not punk), Corrosion of Conformity, GWAR, RKL, Fang... I have some flyers I should scan but I don't have a scanner. I also have some vinyl but no turntable to digitize. Anyway, there was a low budget movie called Suburbia that has T.S.O.L., The Vandals, and DI back in 83'.
I'm sure they can all be classified elsewhere as well, but here are my favorites: The Clash Fugazi The Stooges/Iggy Refused Hot Snakes Descendents At The Drive In Jawbreaker Agnostic Front Black Flag Misfits
All great bands mentioned here. Here's a few local favs from OC: The Tazers, Confederates and D.I. Gene D.I. rocks! I still have their 12" vinyl (Ancient Artifacts, Horse Bites Dog Cries, What Good is Grief to a God) and the 7" of "I Hate Surfin in HB". We need to add 7 Seconds to the list in case I missed it. Too many bands to keep it at 11!
Favorite punk/oi/hardcore bands in no order Cock Sparrer The Skinflicks Sham 69 4 Skins Whiskey Rebels Agnostic Front Blood For Blood Kids Like Us Combat 84 Last Resort Blitz Stiff Little Fingers Punk I hate: most crust Anti-Flag Crass most peace and anrcho punk
Voodoo Glow Skulls The Clash Misfits Dropkick Murphy's NOFX Unwritten Law Social D Agent Orange Ramones Fugazi Sex Pistols That would be my list.
I'm sure all of these are listed already but, Bad Religion Bad Brains Misfits Black Flag Decedents Dead Kennedy’s Circle Jerks Then of course there's Agnostic Front TSOL Minor Threat Fugazi Vandals 7 Seconds Clash Ramones Suicidal Tendencies NOFX Pennywise Minutemen Adolescents SSD Good topic! :bang:
ElDorado 85..Heavy Dirt...DI...Social D used to play at our backyard parties....Tazers were another band that palyed our parties..they turned into Green Lizzards or something like that and palyed Scalzos(Off Campus Pub) a lot... TSOL just played in Capo beach at a dive bar that my bro hangs at the sat before T-day... TSOL Vandals Cramps Agent Orange Adolesents Sex Pistols Gen X Social D Suicidal Tenedencies Clash everything was already listed but deserved more mentioning
Butthole Surfers! Only one vote for the Surfers?? (I skimmed quickly) Also, the Misfits should be on everyone's list! All my other favs have been listed. Except S.O.D.:bang:
