The weird looking Carbon Seat / One-sided Chainstay is gone! I'm on board with Yeti on this one.

What's up with the 160mm fork on the ASR 7? A Totem or a 66 should have been spec'd on this bike.:?:

it is still there just not two of them, only one.
If you look at the site there are two different frames, one still has both sliders and is still 3800 and the new one has only one slider and is about 2500, but this also changes the wheel track.

Not to be a total bummer, I was checking the site and the new asr 7 is almost 2400 dollars, for a single pivot that is not adjustable, plus they are using a inch and an eigth to inch and five like specilized.
for that price I would go buy a slopestyle or tracer.

Need to demo one for sure.

No they have the 303 and 303R. The 303 still has the big slider, the 303R is the lighter weight version without the zero loss tech.

    the 303r has adjustable geometry...

good points though, how is the 7 supposed to fit into the lineup? more of an "a/m" bike than the 575 but less than the as-x? seems like a 29er hardtail would've been more exciting...

That's true, but for a selling stand point, the Fox 36 is already offered on the 575. Usually, 7 inch bikes come with the 180mm forks.

I think its because they have a contract with Fox and Fox does not have a 180mm fork....

    Yeti, how's about a lowered 40 for the ASR7?:-k

It seems bikes have "always" had more travel up front, I thought it was weird when they had that bike at Interbike with a "short" fork.

And the seattube wont make for great climbing/DH because its bent!.

I like the idea of a 7" bike that can be pedaled uphill and bombed down. Whether or not it performs remains to be seen. For the price they're asking, I would personally be looking at a Foes RS7

If you look at the 2009 build kits for the 575, they don't have the Fox 36 as an option anymore. Perhaps they did away with it with the intro of the 7?:?:

Over on Emptybeer, one of the people at Go-Ride is saying they expect Yeti to lower the price but they don't say by how much.

The 575 is definitely a fine all mountain bike. I have heard murmurings that it is not the ideal bike for someone over 170 lbs though as in the rear stays being too flexy. I hope the ASR7 is not this way. I would of liked to see a vertical stay parallel to the seat tube at least on one side. Look how pinner the rear looks, but glad the carbon single sided swing arm is gone. I was looking for 7" pedaler too. I need to test ride that thing.
