Ride Report Sunday Cruiser Ride

We can see MDO from our living room window, however we'd have to ride across the bay for a quick ride over to the trails.... We haven't ridden the trails around Santa Cruz yet, but the local guys gave us a list of awesome trails. Hmmm, perfect excuse for y'all to come up and do some exploring! And yes, the weather is very much cooler. Only 68 - 70 degrees today.

riding in santa cruz mtns rock. I have a few friends that lived in boulder creek and felton(sp?). fun stuff up there. have also hit most of the 'big' spot south through monteray to slo. fun stuff. most def roadtrip worthy

My brother lived in Boulder Creek about 15 years ago. Great place!

OK, I've been reading (and laughing) through this thread, and I'm getting ready to derail it a bit........

Shannon, just mentioning cool weather really makes me want to take a little road trip to see you and Big "B"!
Is it do-able over a weekend?
Say, if I left after work on a Saturday morning at like 6am, would it still give us time to get a Saturday ride in?
How long of a drive is it?

You've really got some ideas bouncing around in my head!#-o:lol::lol:

i have no idea what you guys are talking about ;)(no not my sticks)

sunburn.jpg

Ouch! Vinegar helps take the burning out and Aloe Vera helps the skin heal. Zinc helps prevent scarring. I have had too many of those.

Kelly drenched!!

I know this what you've all been waiting for:clap: but first I had such a good time just hangin and drinkin with a fun group of people. I've ridden with a few and recognize the others from various rides and gatherings and it seemed like the laughs were non stop Sunday, especially with Pat pedaling down the path with Mondo on his handlebars and bike in hand.

Nice change of pace when you don't have to worry about gearing up or getting you heart rate up during a ride.

Brett, Lee, Adam and Ko

Mondo, Kelly showing some tongue(oh my), and Pat pre-sunburn

Lots of people had the same idea we did

First stop, Beach Ball. After riding SART the day before and drinking a Tecate out of Mondo's van, then downing a beer with a shot plus the warm weather, I was starting to get a buzz pretty quick.

Regroup in Newport. Looks like Pat is already turning a little pinkish

Mondo's ass was starting to hurt after his handlebar ride(huh?) so he decided to push his bike instead

Time to repair Mondo's tire and a "ride" by Kelly. Unfortunately I missed the spectacle since I was outside at the time and only heard a bunch of hooting going on.#-o

Stop #2. Modelo, quesadillas and nacho time!
IMG_1763.jpg

Finally made it to the Wedge. Mondo prepared for the sun by wearing a black t-shirt:?:

Pat going for a dip

Pat getting pulled out 10 seconds later by the Lifeguard because he didn't have fins and the Lifeguard going to rescue Kelly from a 1 foot monster set.

As promised, Kelly soaking wet. Maybe not what you all were expecting?

Awesome time, great weather, I'm ready for more!

The lifeguard said we needed fins but I'm sure I would have been fine with these.

it's about 5 hours to Moro Bay. Santa Cruz is quite a bit further.

Personally...I think the look on Mondos face above is..."these two idiots are going to drown and it's not even 1 o'clock yet" ;)

u folks do know that pic was grabbed from the interweb super highway thingy as a joke and not my legs, right!!!

no burn fo me -only a few holes in my knuckles from fall #-o

Eh, if you haul ass it's only about 4, 3.5 if you're really pushing it with no traffic. Santa Cruz is a bit further, but there's plenty of fun beautiful trails within riding distance of our house. And literally, we never lock our doors, let alone close them so c'mon up...

Listen here...it was a beach bag...and for once...I was the one not riding the bike with the basket. Bret at one point said "if you see me do a random endo it's because of the 70 pounds of crap I have in the basket" It was heavy AND colorful. ;)
