Thanks for the post race chicken Denmother & Roger. It hit the spot. Poor Photomom looked worked when she came over to Denmother and asked for baby wipes. The spectators and photogs out there today were hardcore! (Photomom's pics turned out fantastic!)
Thanks to Denmother, SDyeti and Sauce for the race run wind reports. It helped.
I hope the woman (cbharping's Sport class) that dislocated her ankle (or whatever the diagnosis is) makes a full recovery.
Nancy, you are totally a heroine of mine ... from the first time I saw you at Southridge on that podium and wondered, "who's that?" If I could corner as fast as you, I'd be celebrating for sure.
Come on Nancy you had it easy.
Small blessings, huh?
:~)

From Photomom's pics it looks like sdyeti landed a sweet nose wheelie! :bang:
I know it's already been said many times on this thread, but I wanted to add my thanks and appreciation to the spectators and photographers that endured the nasty conditions on Sunday. It wasn't the most fun I've had out there, but hearing the cheers (and cowbell) as well as getting home and seeing all the great pictures more than made up for it.
Speaking of photographers; Dino, I really enjoy your brother's pictures. The candid shots like the guy giving some pointers to the kid on the bike really convey the atmosphere at the races out there.
That was McGyver giving pointer to his son, Slim (Barry & Christian). I thought those were great too.
Come on Nancy you had it easy. THIS is a blow over! \\/ The whole sequence starts at the link below if anyone wants to see it http://jodygomez.exposuremanager.com/p/plates_h__up_13jan08/m276-jg439629

Great action shot there!
Thanks Jordan. My pro shooting career started in the rodeo arena (I was one of only two women in the country who shot pro bull riding PBR from inside the arena), so I got a taste and flair for shooting carnage. I've been told by one guy that he looks for wherever I'm camped because he knows that will be the gnarliest section of the course. I guess I'm kind of known for shooting crashes. Ha Ha.
People like their wreck shots I guess, and I'm more than happy to oblige, however that usually means I'm either getting sandblasted (Sunday) or in a spot where I better be quick or I'm going to get ran over. :-k But since you're a shooter, you know all about the perils of the best spots on a course.

Need to THANK a few people:
My Brother: For risking his equipment. Due to the DUST and wind, he was unable to swap lenses. Most of the pics were taken with his big, bulky and heavy 400mm FIXED lens. No zoom. That would explain many of the poor shots. I am surprised he didn't fly away! Even more surprised he kept shooting. Thanks Bro!
PhotoMom and PhotoTurbo: I was up at the saddle with PhotoMom. She was getting "absolutely worked" by the wind!
Pugzie, Slashusc, DoWork, Elvia, Julia, Willie, CC, jSims, KeithB and to all the other spectators who endured the torturous winds. Was shocked to see Socalridr's parents spectating. Cough... roadies... cough!
A SPECIAL THANK YOU MUST BE EXTENDED TO HEATHER (Andy Rut's better half) who acted as race NURSE at the saddle area. She was a busy girl. One guy ate it BIG TIME. Knocked himself OUT! My job was to get the bikes off the trail, convince them not to move for a while and assist them off the course. Her job was to check for broken bones, concussions, dislocations etc. Huge Thanks! The riders were very grateful for her help
sdINTENSIty ...LilmissFocused.... "StareDown World Champion"- Call her what you will
*** With regard to the STORYTELLING images: My Brother and I consider the members of STR our extended family. Just looking for a few "family" pics! Expect similar images to be posted at the next race.... and the next one!
