DH ride report, the pictorial version

I finished 4th in the pro women's class...not too bad. I did pretty well considering I was riding on tired legs but it was all fun! It was awesome being out there with the hugh Path/STR extended family...you all make it the fun it really is.

I'll spare ya'll the re-hash and get right to the photos :)

I have a bunch of other podium shots but didn't want to be repetitive. It was a race we won't soon forget...memorable! We'll all be talking about this for years to come. Thanks to everyone who came out to cheer, take pictures, and be a part of it all :)

Thanks for the post race chicken Denmother & Roger. It hit the spot. Poor Photomom looked worked when she came over to Denmother and asked for baby wipes. The spectators and photogs out there today were hardcore! (Photomom's pics turned out fantastic!)

Thanks to Denmother, SDyeti and Sauce for the race run wind reports. It helped.

I hope the woman (cbharping's Sport class) that dislocated her ankle (or whatever the diagnosis is) makes a full recovery.

I love babywipes! :bang:

Nancy, you are totally a heroine of mine ... from the first time I saw you at Southridge on that podium and wondered, "who's that?" If I could corner as fast as you, I'd be celebrating for sure.

Hell, I'd settle for being able to just ride a bike down those hills (or anywhere else for that matter)!

Almost forgot...

another huge "THANKS" to Donny and the whole crew at SRC:clap::clap:

They ran a really smooth weekend, given the huge amount of racers and the weather.

Come on Nancy you had it easy.
Small blessings, huh?

:~)

Jody

Wow, that looks like the prone scorpion yoga pose! Ok, I'm gonna edit my original post to say "blown off" since I was able to jump off and run.

And yes I consider it an answer to my pre-race prayer which was for a safe run, no injuries and to stay focused!!!
:-)

I know it's already been said many times on this thread, but I wanted to add my thanks and appreciation to the spectators and photographers that endured the nasty conditions on Sunday. It wasn't the most fun I've had out there, but hearing the cheers (and cowbell) as well as getting home and seeing all the great pictures more than made up for it.

Speaking of photographers; Dino, I really enjoy your brother's pictures. The candid shots like the guy giving some pointers to the kid on the bike really convey the atmosphere at the races out there.

That was McGyver giving pointers to his son, Slim (Barry & Christian). I thought those were great too.

Need to THANK a few people:
My Brother: For risking his equipment. Due to the DUST and wind, he was unable to swap lenses. Most of the pics were taken with his big, bulky and heavy 400mm FIXED lens. No zoom. That would explain many of the poor shots. I am surprised he didn't fly away! Even more surprised he kept shooting. Thanks Bro!

PhotoMom and PhotoTurbo: I was up at the saddle with PhotoMom. She was getting "absolutely worked" by the wind!

Pugzie, Slashusc, DoWork, Elvia, Julia, Willie, CC, jSims, KeithB and to all the other spectators who endured the torturous winds. Was shocked to see Socalridr's parents spectating. Cough... roadies... cough!

A SPECIAL THANK YOU MUST BE EXTENDED TO HEATHER (Andy Rut's better half) who acted as race NURSE at the saddle area. She was a busy girl. One guy ate it BIG TIME. Knocked himself OUT! My job was to get the bikes off the trail, convince them not to move for a while and assist them off the course. Her job was to check for broken bones, concussions, dislocations etc. Huge Thanks! The riders were very grateful for her help

sdINTENSIty ...Lil'missFocused.... "StareDown World Champion"- Call her what you will

*** With regard to the STORYTELLING images: My Brother and I consider the members of STR our extended family. Just looking for a few "family" pics! Expect similar images to be posted at the next race.... and the next one!

Great action shot there!

Thanks Jordan. My pro shooting career started in the rodeo arena (I was one of only two women in the country who shot pro bull riding PBR from inside the arena), so I got a taste and flair for shooting carnage. I've been told by one guy that he looks for wherever I'm camped because he knows that will be the gnarliest section of the course. I guess I'm kind of known for shooting crashes. Ha Ha.

People like their wreck shots I guess, and I'm more than happy to oblige, however that usually means I'm either getting sandblasted (Sunday) or in a spot where I better be quick or I'm going to get ran over. :-k But since you're a shooter, you know all about the perils of the best spots on a course.

I'm a sucker for carnage (but don't wish hurt on anyone) I call it the vulture section :) where I was because of the wind they took more care so few crashes. That was a risky race for sure hats off to you all.I love 4x this is a seuence shot from Saturday of one of the Blackmarket riders.

Yes I know how that goes I cant recall how many times I have nearly been run down by racecars! Action is where it's at when it comes to sports and if you can capture it then you're doing a great job. You definitely won't ever catch me shooting PBR stuff from inside the ring! Hell No!

Thank YOU guys too! I would have loved to have a pic of me getting blown all over the place.

Hey, does anyone remember the first race of the 2007 Winter Series? It was the same as this past weekend except opposite and cooooold. That Saturday was just as windy as this past Sunday, but it was 42 degrees before the wind chill. I remember that day vividly as I was in the saddle and freezing my butt off. But that Sunday was like this past Saturday was - perfect. Maybe we should talk to Donnie about choosing either the weekend before or after to avoid the wind. #-o

how was he doing? im guessing fine, but i just remember him trying to walk off to the side almost getting knocked off his feet by the wind again.

im just glad somebody was there that knew what to look for as far as safety.
