Ride Report Southridge #4

That be 1x1Clyde, I think his problem was the gold glasses, he should have went with the silver;)
Love that look of, "Ohhhhhh Shit!! This is gonna hurt!!"

Anytime...

My wife took some pics so if you give your # Ill check rather than post all of them up. But this on has to be my favorite. I love how the dude in the back is loving every second of Spam man eating it. :)

Forgot to add ...

Anyone get any pics of 279o coming through the bottom section?

RR; Practice went well both Sat and Sun, everything felt smooth, fun easy course. As for my race run, it felt good but there were three, well four actually, spots that I scrubed a bit more speed then I was doing in practice and that killed my time.

All in all it was a fun weekend and the Mrs and Lil' monsters made it out finally. I had to remind my self not to wave through the rocks when I heard my kids yelling, "Hi Daddy!" ;)

This is my friend David. First time on a DH race. Did pretty well until the lower rock garden!

He's game though, he wants to come back and do it again!!!:bang:

What happened to him up top? He started in front of me but all of sudden I hear someone behind me thinking Slickshoe couldn't have caught me glanced back and saw he was now behind me.

Glad he is coming back.

And if any other shots of 331z.

Ya we were watching him from up top. He crashed on the 1st left, then had had chain suck on the long stretch.

He can pedal though. Good times!

Denmo's RR

Got to Fontucky early Saturday and did a few DH practice runs with the buds. The course was fast and flowy but was more like a Super D course (welcome to DH racing in So Cal). ;)

Unfortunately, Saturday 4x ended up being a bust for me, I could barely walk let alone pedal the 4x bike, so after a weak attempt at practice I decided to withdraw and spectate instead. Congrats to Julia on her 1st place, you earned it!!! I hope to challenge you at race #5!!!

The highpoint of the 4x racing was Roger's consi round where he passed "the big guy" and then got run into by him so hard that both feet came out of the pedals. After that he tried to get his feet back on but they kept sliding off. The laughter from the entire mountain was deafening!!!

So, some of you already know, I have a partially herniated disk between L5 and S1 which is causing my nerve issues in my left leg and decreased ROM. The Ortho put me on a 6 day course of oral steroids, Saturday being day 1. They seemed to have kicked in because Sunday morning I could actually walk without hobling (Saturday I looked like a little old grandma and needed a cane). ;)

Got 2 push up practice runs and 1 shuttle practice run and was just happy to be on the bike and able to pedal and turn. My race run felt great, but just wasn't fast enough to beat the younger girls in my class. I wasn't that far off the podium, so it's time to train more on the wall!!! :bang:

Roger had a good race also and came in 2nd. Congratulations to everyone who came out and raced. GOOD TIMES!!!!

See you all at Race #5!!!!

So even after i RSVP'd no i ended up racing today. I just was too confident after making 9 runs yesterday to not go out and race. Ended up getting 4th and having a great time!! The course was nice and tacky in the corners and boy do i love that section after the G-out on the top!! 415y for pics if you got em

Ya, that was my favorite section too.

hhahaha ok so my RR.
got out there about 730 saturday, did about 6 runs, then left by 11 oclock.
sunday i felt good, got 3 practice runs, then hung out before race time.
thought it was funny that everyone called me a sandbagger. even Jon Buckel (belt_buckel) that races pro called me a sandbagger everytime he saw me.
when i was waiting for my race run, Jeff did a great job drawing attention to me, by yelling out hey SANDBAGgER! every single kid in my class looked at me at that point. haha.
i ended up 2nd origninally, but due to timing mixups, i got bumped to 3rd or soemthing stupid like that.
oh well, next time i'll pedal harder.

My Dh RR

Saturday:Got to practice late (2:00) and did 2 shuttle runs, hiked up 1 run and did 3 session runs on the lower rock garden. Fun course...except for the crash I had during my second run. Did the rock drop at the lower rock garden somehow slid out, hit a rock, went over my bars, landed on some smaller rocks (thankfully I had my Armor on), and messed up my right wrist (just sore...from a previous wrist injury). The crash messed me up mentally on the rock garden...but after a couple runs was able to go through it.:bang:
Sunday: Got one practice run in and felt decent. Felt a bit tired but okay (getting over the Flu and was up late the night before):?:. Had my race run...and once again, felt decent on the course up until "the Wall". Gassed out when i got to the wall...tried to pedal but felt my legs start to cramp up...let off and finished up the race. Once again...just like the last race...at the finish I had known that I came in last#-o.
Grabbed some beers and cheered on the Z class:drunk:.
heres a quick vid my friend did of the race...first 2 riders are me then my cousin...and the rest i think are the Y and Z class. Enjoy!

See you guys in 2 weeks!

If anyone has pics of 486N, 487N and 490N...thanks!!!

Speaking as the "wall on wheels" (which cracks me up by the way!LOL!), that race was sooooo much fun! This was my first ever 4X race and I had a blast! I remember why I used to love the Dual Slalom in the old Cal. State Series at Big Bear.

Thanks for giving me the warm welcome everybody, especially you Roger, I will be back!

-Jon "HinkDog411" Hinkle
