A final few are on the way!

I must have told Marshall 1,000 times, "if you want to podium, leave the DH bike at home!"
Looks like he took my advice! (DW-LINK equipped Iron Horse 6 Point)

I can't count the number of times people have told me "I want to try racing DH at Fontana, but I don't have a DH bike." I always tell them that a DH bike isn't necessary, at least for the sport/beginner courses, and that their 5-6" travel trail bike will be just fine. Thanks to some late night mechanical issues with my DH bike on Saturday, I had to put my money where my mouth is and race my trailbike. I was pleasantly surprised at how things turned out. My best Winter Series finish to date!

Thanks to all the folks who braved the elements to take photos or cheer us on.

Dino, THank angelo for me.. he said he may have missed me, but he got a sick shot of me insteaad!!
he's a great photographer

God, I remembet hearing this as it happened, That was one hell of a loud ass thud. Little advice next time this happens, Ledt go of the bars a bit sooner, That way you dont scoop up three inches of dirt with your helmet.

I added a bit to the shot, I thought it was appropriate

Yeah I took my Slopestyle out the weekend before and rodde that previous course and was amazed how much easier and faster it was then a full DH bike.

Another great race weekend in Fontana. I had a blast out there, even practicing sopping wet on Sunday, riding down a river ;) Got 5th in "N" when I thought I was 6th from preliminary results, guess they call 'em that for a reason! See you all at #4.

My Dh Rr

-Saturday:
Got to Fontana around noon and it was sprinkling. I was a bit worried about the conditions of the track and was hoping for the sun to break through the clouds. Got suited and signed up and got in the shuttle line. Did about 4 full runs and a couple of sessions at all the rock gardens. The trail was actually in great condition (super tacky)!:bang: Finished up my last run feeling really good about the course (wished it was my race run).:?:

-Sunday:
Got to Fontana around 9 and it was RAINING:eek:. Got to the shuttle line in time for one practice/warm up run. Once again i was hoping the sun would break through...but not this time[-o-]. There was continuous rain...and as i walked up from where the shuttle drops you off...i watched how the rain was running down the hill and knew this wasn't going to be anything like the day before. Got to the top and took my practice run. WOW:eek:...its was muddy, sliipery and wet. I went down on one of the turns when my rear tire slipped away from me and as I slipped a couple of feet. Got up and finished the rest of the course with some precaution. Got to the truck and did not feel to great about the course.

-Race run:
Rain had stopped but being wet and having the cold wind blow while waiting for my race run wasn't the greatest feeling. Also hearing about all the carnage that went down...didn't encourage my feelings about the course. At that point I decided to run a bit more conservative. Went on my race run, and noticed that the course wasn't as muddy as practice:bang:. I pushed a bit faster and started to feel my wheels starting to slide, and went back to my cautious speed and continued the race run. Put my foot down a couple of times to save from sliding out and got to the wall#-o(again...i think this is where i did my worst). Got to the finish line and knew i had a REALLY bad run. I was pretty sure i was going to be last in my class (27-34 Sport)...and turned to be true when the results came out.:?:

I plan to work on getting better (esp. for the wall) if work permits( 12-13 horur days). Either way...i had fun like always and was glad I had a safe, but very slow run.

Thanks to all the Photogs that stayed out!:bang::beer: Atleast in the photos you can't tell (that much) how slow i was going:lol:. I'm the guy with the Philippines Jacket...487N
