First for fitness, then for fun, now to hang out with all my new buddies!

And to huck stuff. Well try.

My most current reason is to push my abilities. The faster I ride the more fun I have.only problem is that I'm still slow.... somebody call the wambulance.

Started to get in shape. Now I ride because I am freaking addicted and can't stop.

"Hi, my name is Judson and I am a ride-a-holic."

because i don't remember a time when i didn't ride. was in moab on a bmx before moab was "moab" (1986); still like doing wheelies and skidding. i also like suffering long climbs in the cold and rain, or the heat; and i like the way bikes look.

I ride because I just love the feel of the bike out in the wherever. Look what we get to see that most people dont even bother with. Yeah its good for me but thats just frosting on the cake. I usually dont like to ride alone, but with a group that is just enjoying the ride.

Out riding today I saw only a hand full of peeps (all pleasant), but also saw 3 deer on a grassy hill side and a bunch of red shoulder hawks flying above. nature is a bonus.

The feeling of being so small in mountains so big, created thousands upon thousands of years ago, by a Creator who knew I'd be enjoying ridin' on 'em today.

I ride because there's a fat guy chasing me and I must outrun him. I've escaped him but it only made him angry. He wants to hold me captive again. But I won't let it happen. I will pedal faster and harder. I will find hills, then mountains, that he can't climb. I will outrun him. I must.

Sure, there are other ways to outrun the evil fat man. But none more enjoyable. And its needs to be pleasurable so I maintain the will to keep the evasion going. The crunch of dirt underneath the tires. The contrast of warm and cool as I pass from sunlight under trees and back again. The hawks, the deer, even the coyotes. The clean air. The gobble of the Avids (yeah, I like it - so what?). The relief from pain that reaching the top of that heinous climb brings. The realization that I cleaned a climb that once took me three rest stops to make. The (very rare) near-perfect rail of a berm. The lovely silence when both tires are free of the earth for a brief, glorious moment.

Why do I ride? I ride because I can't stop.

Riding in the mountains is my getaway from the crowded cities, smog, gridlock, work, etc. Getting out is so peaceful and really clears my head. Plus its fun.
