Southridge Report
I decided to go ahead and give a try at some good ol' cross country Saturday at the Fontana race. I did two laps and actually placed pretty well. My major lesson learned is I can do the distance, but I need to actually start training on the hill climbs. I watched on every hill (at least for the first lap) one guy take off from me. It was really disheartening for me. That used to be my strong point. I still enjoyed the race just found what I need to do to place better next time. :bang:
After the xc race I entered the Super D. I raced expert this time. This race was a BEAST. Essentially we climbed the dirt fireroad that parellels the DH course. For me it was an all out hike-a-bike. Nothing like looking up the hill and seeing 5 other racers all walking too... not to mention looking back down the hill to see the same thing. Oh my legs were on FIRE!! Well this time I really enjoyed the event (apparently I love pain) and I can't wait to do it again.
Sunday came all too early. Luckily Allison called (and got me out of bed.) Thanks
I raced sport DH and had a blast yet again. If I could only learn how to lean my bike, I think I could move up a catagory. #-o Well maybe not. Who knows.
What I came away with this weekend was new and better friendships. The Path guys and gals all rocked and looked to be having a splendid time. The InCycle guys were as jovial as ever. FoesNasty had equipment failure right at the start of the DH and still came across the finish line with a smile. Thanks to Denmother, Roger, Allison, Justin and Dan for taking me under your wing and EZ Up. A special thanks to Stephany for goggles! Who knew being able to see would help on a DH course!!! You all rock!!!
I think the Mann's walked away with 4 first place trophies! 4 out of 4.... not bad at all!
