Well, doesn't change your overall spot, but you would've placed 10th in the 40-44 age group. I'm 43, we're old. ;)

Looks like the was at least one rider in the beginner SS catagory. I'm bummed cuz I could've gotten a trophy. Any other beginner SS riders that got lumped in the beginner catagory?

    Mike,

I think there was only Sport or Expert Singlespeed. These were open categories with no age breakdown.

Usually there isn't enough singlespeeders out there to give them their own category for beginners, sport, etc.

Same thing at Bonelli. I rode single with all the other the other gearies in beginners.

Though, I think you should get some kinds of special trophy for racing your rigid Schwinn cruizer. Dude what year is that frame?

    Carl

There was only expert and sport SS catagories. That guy who came in 25th overall says S speed 40-44 means that he raced in the 40-44 on a SS 6th in that age group and the guys who came in 7th, 8th, 9th raced geared,. The 5th place guy was clydes 40-44 which means he was over 200 lbs, but they were all racing in the 40-44 age group. Your time puts you at 10th in that age group. still places you 59th overall.

All other SS were racing expert or sport. The 1st through 6th place in 35-39 age group in sport all rode SS, while the 7th to 14th on geared. Had some of these 1 through 6th guys entered in the SS catagory, Justin(klutter) would've been bumped from 2nd to 7th.

Just like the clydes class, had the all clydes raced in the true clydes 1-99 class the guy who came in 1st(43 overall) would have finished 6th, maxwell who was 3rd in clydes 1-99 would have been 10th. I hope I didn't confuse anyone, but it's pretty simple. Carl and Justin(mechmann) were both the 30-34 age not SS and clydes.

    thanks for the clarification

Oh well, good times none the less. Still feel pretty good at 42yrs finishing above some gearies:D Guess the class is getting smaller. Two years ago I managed a 3rd place Beginner SS trophy(3 entrants).

It's a 1978 Schwinn Cruiser, fun, but I don't think I'd be able to handle more than 2 laps on it. Rigid fork beats me up pretty good.

How about a single speed tandem class? Race 2 catagories at the same time. Carl, you wanna be the captain or stoker?

I finished about a minute behind you, but I was in the second wave of riders that took off 2 minutes after you. The headings/titles for classes on geoladders are a mess, they have me listed in a ss class. (BTW Justin, I BEAT YOU!)

Justin, they put you down as a clyde just like they put Carl in SS, but you guys still raced in the 30-34 cause Carl placed 8th. I'm pretty sure all you guys had a "M" on your leg and number plate which was the 30-34. The true Clydes class that Maxwell was racing in, had a "WW". I know, kinda confusing. :-k

according to the results I finished in 1:01:27 for my two laps in beg. 19-24. good enough for fourth place!!!!!! That makes me feel a bit better about this race because I can say I improved from my 5th at the incycle xc challenge.

No races for a while but I'm gonna do the 50 mile project rwanda ride on the 29th of december.

Geoladders didn't show the 1st and 2nd beginner 19-24s which is kind of a bummer, I wanted to see how bad the sandbagger beat the rest of us.

    Mt. Sac race

At Southridge I met Andrew that had his kids in tow (he switched kids each lap) and was interested in any pics you had. Would mean much to him if you'd PM me and I'll give you his email to pass them on? Thanks very much!!
