Why are there so many capitalized words mid-sentence in the OP? Is that what the kids are doing these days? At first there was no proper punctuation and now it's just random punctuation? :?:

And yes I hope to goodness sake Obama is elected president. Lord knows we don't need another 4 years of Republicans in office. We got rid of Uncle Ted (Stevenson from Alaska) today hopefully.

    Twas the night before elections

I got this from a friend this morning, somehow it seemed fitting.....;)

    'Twas the night before elections
    And all through the town
    Tempers were flaring
    Emotions all up and down!

    I, in my bathrobe
With a cat in my lap
    Had cut off the TV
    Tired of political crap.

    When all of a sudden
    There arose such a noise
I peered out of my window
    Saw Obama and his boys

They had come for my wallet
    They wanted my pay
    To give to the others
Who had not worked a day!

    He snatched up my money
    And quick as a wink
    Jumped back on his bandwagon
As I gagged from the stink

    He then rallied his henchmen
    Who were pulling his cart
I could tell they were out
    To tear my country apart!

    ' On Fannie, on Freddie,
    On Biden and Ayers!
    On Acorn, On Pelosi'
    He screamed at the pairs!

They took off for his cause
And as he flew out of sight
I heard him laugh at the nation
Who wouldn't stand up and fight!

So I leave you to think
    On this one final note-
    IF YOU DONT WANT SOCIALISM
    GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!*

So, is it you or your friend who has a mistaken notion of what the word "Socialism" means?

Perhaps they meant Socialdemocracy :?: Not quite socialism but close enough. Big government is good only if politicians are HONEST because it is prone to corruption due to government controlling some or most major businesses. The question is: have you ever met an honest politician?

A lot of third world countries are socialdemocracies and there is a good link between that and the fact they remain a third world.

please. bailing out the credit industry was socialism, and both parties jumped on board because the free market wasn't working.

the right yelling socialism is just another desperation hail mary. in years past it would have been communism. this is just divisive propaganda at its worst...

Well, I don't know about a day of silence on controversial subjects, but i'm observing a moment of silence for McCain's poorly waged campaign.

Obama should have been easy to beat... for a shrewd and clever strategist. If he wins -as it looks like he will-, he has my respect if only for his political savvy.

I agree. That is the problem with a two party system.

Isn't it odd how at STR the above Poll is a 50/50 split between the presidential candidates. The latest Clalifornia polls show a dramatic difference with about 56% for Obama and about 36% for McCain. That's a 20 point difference!

What gives? Are the larger more formal polls skewed? Does this mean that STR is more republican than the state as a whole?
