it looks like those are practice times for those that are racing only....you can by a lift tix and ride all day friday and saturday, the races courses will be closed to the public 30 minn before racing and reopened 30 minn after racing ends..... this is what the bike shop dude says.... and it makes sense, mammoth would be stupid to close the mtn to only racers on labor day weekend....

I hear there's an unconfirmed rumor that there is the possibility that the 4x track may become an irrigated part of Lower Techno Rock.

Saw that last weekend. Wish they would have built a DS course instead. Better racing and more fun.

The Golden State Series is DH and 4x, hence the 4x course. ;)

Just curious, as this will be my first trip to Mammoth, what would be a good tire selection for 4X (I saw the thread on DH tire selection, but 4X is a bit different)?

Sizes, etc., is the surface going to be pumice as I have been told?

    Thanks!

Its a logistic's issue, just make sense to keep the 4x and DH in the same central staging location

----> just an other unconfirmed rumor <---

Ok, we travel all that way to Mammoth to race Velocity that's only 3/4 of a mile long. I love that trail, but it would be nice to have a longer race course.

don't forget that it's probably going to be dual run as with the rest of the series. even then, for your average, sport level rider you're probably looking at 2:15-2:30 per run on velocity, with pros getting down in the low 1:40's.

velocity does make the most sense. difficult to go warp speed, but manageable at beginner pace and skill level. challenges every skill level. plus, the aforementioned location makes things easy to deal with. all racers go to McCoy and you're at the start line, or a quick road ride down to the 4X.

personally, I think that Bullet would make an epic DH trail for a single run format. long, difficult, and scary as hell at race pace. bad for the beginners though, seeing as it's a crummy go-around on the logs, jumps, and drops.

it was also mentioned that Follow Me would be cool. admittedly, it would be a nutty course, and make for a VERY interesting (albeit challenging) race. fast, tricky upper part, with a massive pedal/pump section in the middle, into technical pumice chutes, with the wicked chair tower corner and root slide at the end. that pumice would be nuts...

Hink, apparently the 4X track is all trucked in dirt, so it's supposed to be super nice and tacky. they've got sprinklers out there for irrigation as well, so it should be pretty solid. I'm thinking go with the standard fast rolling rear (highroller, SB8), and a grippier front (nevegal, minion DHF, etc)

Emailed donny and he suggested that the end of the Kamikaze race will be at the adventure center. Has anyone done a run and checked times yet?

I have never been to Mammoth and I’m heading up for the 4X race. Can someone please recommend where to stay, that would be closest to the race area?

    Thanks
