How did OTH #2 treat you all? Longer course, more climbing, and no mud! :)Good times! It was great to see you all out there! According to Strava, I did a little better on some of the climbs (I suppose it helps borrowing Brownie's Carbon HT), but I got a bit sketchy on a few of the looser descents (less grab on the sidewall of those sweet racing tires).

Thanks for the cow-bell and cheering out there Dino and Thomas! I looked forward to seeing you guys out there all 3 laps.

    Over the Hump Race #2

Just wanted to start of a new race report.

The track today was a bit longer and, best of all, had no more mud:) I really enjoyed it.

I moved up to Sport 1 this week. Didn't do as well as hoped. But it was still a great day because I got to ride the course. A huge HUGE shout-out to Mike from Fullerton Bikes for letting me borrow his lime green IBIS Mojo SL (I forgot the keys to my bike rack lock at home #-o). Without his generosity, I would've been a bummed out spectator. Thanks again, Mike. You rock.:bang:

And I thought you shelled out all that cash just to race sport ;) just kidding just kidding. You seemed to be doing better than me, man!

And as for the new course - I'm digging it. Some fun new rolling sections in the first half, and anything was better than mud in the second half. Anyone know if this is the course that sticks around for the rest of the season?

Course is likely to change week to week. We will probably do a new version next week. Last year they seemed to alternate running it forward and backward.

Great race for me tonight. Despite dropping a chain on the climb on the backside of the lake, I managed to finish 14th out of 36 in S2. This one of my best OTH finishes! Couple more spots and I will finally get myself a mug .

I really liked the course today, nice variety. Looking forward to next week!

Until either the lake lowers or the willows dry out, there's only a few options for the first half of the season. Last year the lake lowered for Dam maintenance, so there was singletrack and some floating bridge options around the west loop for the second half.

When/if they run it backwards, it has been starting on the Lake side of the home stretch, and doing the west loop for a half-lap so that people spread out a little bit...launching the waves through the RV Lot into the singletrack didn't work so well last year.

Besides, you never know who is going to show up and race pro...just glad I didn't get lapped by the Sagan brothers.....

I bombed. I was in the S2 category. I went out way too fast at the start. Then I dropped my bottle half way through the second lap of three. The course was fun. I'm still coughing up dust. I think I will use the Stumpy hardtail rather than the Stumpy FSR next time.

Good time tonight. I think I psyched myself out moving to sport. I had a great start then counted one by one the big boys passing me. That deflates you pretty fast when last week was the opposite. Time to train a bit harder and slowly work my way up. Great support as always from Dino, and it was nice to get to know you all better. My wife was inspired by Krunner44, thanks for chatting with her and sharing your knowledge. See ya all next week.

Big thanks to dacaboose. You got me chain lube for my bike before the race. Without you none would hear Dino's cowbell over the squeaking in my chain. Big props to all the STR guys who put up the tent, watch our stuff, and support us all at these races.

We couldn't do it without STR! Now everyone who reads this should join now.
