No more Classifieds- open Marketplace back up?

Hey sorry if this has been posted before but I didn't see anything on it since STR resurrected.

I've always liked selling stuff to fellow STRers. It's usually convenient, the people are more trustworthy than Craigslist, etc. So I also don't mind selling stuff for a bit cheaper.

I don't see the classifieds anymore and it looks like Marketplace has been closed for awhile. Can that be opened back up? Or can we post for sale items in the general thread?

I've accumulated some stuff over the past few years and need to make some room in the garage

There a barter forum? I got some stuff I need to get rid of but hate dealing with craigslist flakes. Some idiot on reddit bought my ac from me and shorted me $10 when he got to my house.

I agree. Are there any mods that can unlock the Marketplace section? I've got a couple of Magicshine lights that I'd like to sell, but want to stay away from CL.

The Market Place was shut down because people would "bump" their add to oblivion and the Market place took it's place. Not sure when it will return, but you'll just have to be patient. I'd post your adds on another website cause getting the Classifieds fixed as well as many other issues with this site could take some time.

Thanks Gene, understood. If anyone is interested, I just put some stuff on Craigslist. Good deals to be had on a Salsa Spearfish and a Kona Unit in medium and a few forks (Tower Pro, Revelation 27.5 and Fox 34 27.5). PM me for details.

Have to tweak it to make it work best. For example all advertisements have to be approved by moderator...automatically expire in 30 days...etc

Yes bring back the classifieds or the marketplace. If you bring back the marketplace, see that people cannot "bump" their item for at least 10 - 14 days. - Lloyd

I would say if you bring the Marketplace back, make it so the thread is locked as soon as it is placed. Require that seller and buyer contact each other via Message/Email/Phone.

The problem is that threads continue on because they get sidetracked and derailed by comments like "Nice "x", I used to have one" "I wish I could buy that, but can afford it"...etc.

Kinda like Mtbr....they allow the the Thread, then lock it out.

Ok. I think I have The Market Place setup such that no one will be able to mess with it. Ads will expire in 30 days. All posting there require approval. Buyer / Seller will have to message each other to do deal.

Please feel free to give it a shot and provide feedback...

The problem with the Market place as with most of the forums before is that it was not moderated by the moderator assigned to moderate them. Only me and a couple other supermods would. If you do bring it back. Lock it down so it cannot be bumped and all deals will have to be done via PM. Thanks
