I'm an iwhore for sure..... probably tried preordering it 30 times yesterday and finally got through and had one shipped to my house! I can't wait.

All you iphone haters hate on..... It will be around longer than all your other smartphones. I've had my 3g almost two full years with zero problems and currently selling it for around $200.

I wouldn't consider myself an "iPhone-hater." I have had a 3g for almost 2 years now. I instead refer to myself as an "iPhone don't-needer." I don't need many of the 200,000 apps. Everyone says the iPhone is a pioneer in its field with all the apps. But take away the apps, and there have been plenty of other phones out there that worked better and were more productive. For example, it took Apple how long to add MMS to their 3G phone? MMS capability was available on many of the cheesy FREE phones for years before Apple finally adopted it. 2MP camera, while other cameras had 3-5MP years ago?? and so on . . .

Just like with their mp3 players, they had less functionality/features than others but obviously way better marketing. Good for them, for generating buzz.

I do hate iTunes though, and how proprietary all of the apple stuff is in general. I will probably use my 3g for a while longer and then get something non-Apple the next time around.

I also hate people with macs (and now iPads) that sit by themselves at coffee shop tables for hours on end. Some of us GROUPS of people would like to sit at a table for 10 whole minutes so we can enjoy our coffee but your hip ass has to linger forever with your overpriced device, green tea, messenger bag, and black turtleneck.

You should get a gun. And carry it around. ...loaded. You know, just in case. :p

SeanC... If you ever see me sitting at a table at a coffee shop alone with my computer out, you can always come over and sit down! i've got no problems with that! but don't expect me to have a black turtle neck, or messenger bag....

What functionality/features do you need on an mp3 player...other than playing music? The Zen and Zune were both crap. I had numerous friends that had multiples of both break within short periods of time. Personally, I think the iPod dominated the market because of simplicity and ease of use.

Douchebags that hog tables have been around a lot longer than computers. Most of them just now have a tendency to own Apple products, wear skinny jeans and ride their fixies there....

If I frequented such establishments, I would have no problem with someone sitting down next to me.

Maybe it's a SoCal thing, but almost everywhere I have traveled or lived, folks don't mind sharing tables in public places.

And if someone DID have a problem, I would just inquire with the management about their policy on aholes Bogarting the seating.

    Update:
It has been confirmed that the iPhone 4 has 512MB of ram, an upgrade from the 256MB of ram on the iPhone 3GS. :)

The thing I hate most about iPods is iTunes, it does not make using the mp3 player easier. I just recently switched from an iRiver that worked for years but the battery finally gave out. To load music onto it, it was just drag and drop. When I switched to iTunes it wiped out 2/3's of my library. I had to go back and download 350 CD's because iTunes didn't like the format of my music.

My wife has a Zune is it doesn't care what format the music is in...

You must have been using mp3 players long. When the iPod came out, nothing beat its functionality. The "click wheel" was by far the easiest navigation system of its time. There was no faster way to scroll through all of your music. That is why it became successful, before all of the marketing. Simple design, superb functionality.

I had a Creative Zen back when iPod first came out. It had the same amount of memory, plus could store photos and other files, had an FM tuner, and it was half the price of Apple's mp3-only player (with neato click-wheel!)
Creative Zens had a little toggle nub that was very easy to use.

Creative had more features on its mp3 players for half the price through many generations of iPods, I am 95% sure they offered video playback on their players before Apple as well.

    just sayin' . . .
