I am getting off work at 2:30 and I have my bike with me so I want to go for a quick ride before the sun goes down. I need direction to the parking where top of the world is. I work next door to John Wayne airport so Im right off 405.

Take Newport coast to PCH, then a left on Park ave, another left at the top of the hill.
Edit: I only suggested PCH due to congestion from the 405 and the canyon, you might get out early enough to miss it (@2:30) but it is never fast. If you want to try it 405 south to 133 south left on forest, left at top of crazy hill onto park then another left at top of the hill.

Take the 405 south to the 133 south (Laguna Canyon). Take it through the canyon and go left on Forest. Forest quickly turns into 3rd; take this up the steep hill and go left on Park. Take Park up into the hills and turn Left on Alta Laguna. Alta Laguna dead ends at Top of the World.

It would be way faster to park off canyon Vistas for an Aliso ride (especially if you take the 73), or park at the top of Ridge Park and hit El Moro.
