MET Helmet?

Let me know, I'm / Friends are back and forth quite a bit. But agree, its a little on the expooonsive side ! $230 at Rutland Cycling in the UK.

I got mine when Chainreaction were giving them away for 70quid.

I keep thinking about asking friends going to or coming from Europe to pick one up for me... Then there's that $250 price tag....

On my last trip out to Palm Canyon, one of our riders side/face-planted a large coffee-table sized rock from above coming down into one of the little wash crossings. He was wearing a met. If he wasn't, he'd be missing teeth and/or have a broken jaw. The side of his face still swelled up a bit, and his shoulder got the worst of it. The helmet seemed to be just fine and probably paid for itself right there.

The Casco Viper isn't available in the U.S. I've had my eye on them for a while, and I keep thinking about asking friends going to or coming from Europe to pick one up for me... Then there's that $250 price tag....

Bet cash money it was the same spot I went down#-o, managed to hug a bush and only jam my ring finger (which is still bugging now)8-[.

My next big ticket purchase:-k.

I'm always amazed that we fly down rocky chutes and boulder stricken fireroads in board shorts and flimsy 70's style bike helmets. My moto friends have a saying, "it's not if, it's when..." you eat shit bad. The more I read about tragic head injuries and kneed caps exploding, I'm gravitating towards gearing up like those riders I used to make fun of...Darth Vader DH wanabee's. Turns out they might be the smartest ones in the bunch. Old habits die hard when you started riding with a Lycra covered helmet and a Yo Eddy. Reality is we're really riding engine-less motos now and I would argue riding more treacherous terrain. Old schoolers may scoff but I'll smile back with a complete grill.

I am in the market for a new helmet and I think this is it. After going through the ordeal with my brothers crash the other night on Motorway I wanta little more protection.

I started wearing a Spesh Deviant helmet after breaking my jaw on SJT last yr. Been using it for a yr now and no complaints...well vented and quite tolerable even in hot conditions. The chin guard protrudes anteriorly far enough
so breathing is actually good.
