Just got us new bikes both specalized, hers is a jynx and mine is a rockhopper comp. We are locals to Beaumont-Yucaipa area and want some simple beginner trails for hardtails... and any info on bike stuff like thinks I can do to upgrade my bike (the rockhopper). But just trail knowledge would be very helpful. Thank you all fellow Mt bikers.

I'd head to Crafton Hills. If you start at the college on the road behind the tennis courts it'll lead you to the main fireroad. Once you're feeling comfortable on your bikes you can always check out the singletrack trails. If you know you're ready for singletrack, best to park by YAPS behind the high school and there are 2 trails there that head up.

Sycamore in riverside might be funner since you can ride around without getting into too much climbing, Yucaipa/crafton might intimidate you since the climb is longggg and will tire you out if not in decent shape.
