maybe some help with a bike decision.

I have been trying to decide what bike to buy and would really like some imput.

I was looking at used but might go new since i found the right priced bike. I went into my local bike shop and was riding the 2009 specialized fsrxc comp large the only one they had. The bike is awsome. sellin for 1650.

While I was there they mentioned that they had the 2008 for only 1100 but in an xl.

Im 6'2" and 220lb so the large almost felt small. but i havent been on a bike for sooo long that it might just be me.

I am trying to decide if the 2008 is worth buying without riding it. I almost never buy anything without trying it first to know its a good buy especially when spending that kinda money. but the advice of experts:bang: (you) is the same as riding the bike right...

anyways i would appreciate any input as to which way to go

I am 6-2 and ride the 2008 XC Comp XL , fits me great . I see alot of guys sitting scrunched down on other bikes. I like to be able to strech the skinny legs out.I am sure it hurts me on the tight corners , but who cares. Im old and in everybodys way anyways

I´m 5´11" and ride a medium Specialized Enduro. It fits me perfectly, so i would think that a large would suit you better than an X-large.
Personally, I think a mountain bike should not be too big. I would even go as far as too say that too small is preferable to too large.

I am 6'4 and an XL fits me pretty good. If you play with your bar/ stem combo you shold be able to make it work out right.

I would rather have a frame one size too large with a short stem, then a frame one size too small with a mile of seat post showing and a long stem. doesn't the specialized website have a suggested size for your hieght?

Get the XL. Specialized tend to run a little short in the TT, IMO. I'm 6'4" and can't ride their Large DH bike - too cramped. +1 on the shorter stem v. longer stem, as long as standover (dismounting uphill) isn't a problem.

Like I said i have that bike in a XL if you want to try it. I am 2 blocks away from the Full. loop.

I'm 6'2", ride an xl stumpy with a 90mm stem. The stock 120mm was fine climbing but I feel better descending on the 90.

Is there a 29er fsrxc?
