I have a female Ridgeback; they are cunning, very stubborn, leery of strangers, fearless, and totally loyal to the master. A scent and site hound if they see pray and are off lead you will not see your dog, until they ether loose the pray or ketch it, nothing like a lab. I learned my lesson when a deer popped up and she chased until it went over a fence, I chased for a mile; she now stays on lead. Off lead, my RR becomes a very different dog, nose to the ground seek and destroy mode.

I only know one way to get a Ridgeback to come when their off lead “Run from Them”

    Bump

I still have not heard from Gaylord. I am guessing he is still camping out there looking for him or he is spending alot of time with him.

I am hoping the better of the two but thinking it is the worse.

I'm riding out there today. I'll keep my eye out for him but it doesn't sound like the type of dog that would warm up to a stranger.

OK before CPat even gets a chance - Especially someone as strange as me.

I think Kipper might be at the old Johnson place, cause Timmy fell down the well and broke his leg.

On a serious note, I hope you find him, soon!

I lost my dog Zoe, (A.K.A. Hoosierdoggy) a year to the day yesterday, we had to put Her down. It was the saddest day of my life.

    Good luck!

I wasn't going to say anything! In my eyes you are as normal as me.

Maybe the dog will be attracted to that hoppy sent.

I'll be there tomorrow hiking in Big Laguna and have my two dogs around. Hopefully they'll smell each other and Kipper comes out to play.

Good idea. Maybe bring an extra collar and leash in case you can get a hold of the dog?

Wow.. 5 pages? Thanks for the support!

I'll give $1,000 cash to whoever can grab my dog. You now have even more motivation to go ride Noble Canyon :) I assume at this point, he's probably pretty skidish so catching him may not be the easiest thing to do, but he has never bitten anyone or anything... running at him with a stern voice would probably put him to the ground.

I've been out there every day since Sunday, and have camped the last 3 nights. The flyers that were posted out there were made in a hurry by a friend. I will be making new flyers and posting them this weekend.

I haven't slept much this week... Sigh...

Gaylord....imo....you're gonna need to starve him out. Feeding and watering him only allows him to stay healthy. In this case, ole Kipper needs to get his head on straight and figure his priorities.

Personally I'd bring a tranquilizer gun with me. You might also look into professional trapping services with that $1000.00

*or* put the food and water inside of that.

Just got back from there. Spent more time in Big Laguna rather than Noble Canyon because I figured there were enough heads there. No sign or trace of him there. My dogs didn't show any sign of being alert to something off the trail, so I don't think he's over in the Big Laguna area. I think he's sticking by the Noble Canyon area and wouldn't be surprised if he's by the creek area by Widowmaker for water.

I stopped by the super market in Pine Valley and didn't notice any signs there. Maybe put some up there too just in case a local picks up Kipper.

ON the way to the trailhead, my heart jumped because I saw a truck with 3 big ass Ridges in the back and the owners loading them up. I thought you found Kipper. Unfortunately it was not him.

I feel so bad about not being able to at least see a trace of him. I've been thinking about this all week because I know how I'd feel if I had one of my dogs out there.

Is the food being eaten and are there signs of his paws by the bed?

I just got a call from someone. They said they saw Kipper about 100 yards up the road from where his bed and food are. This was at sunset today. I'm heading out there now.
