Looking to upgrade forks on Girlfriend's Trek 800

I tried talking her into getting a new bike, but she cant afford it. She really just likes to get out on mellow trails and cruse, but the bike lacks any suspension and she is complaining of her hands going numb and her boobs hurting. This last weekend she hit a rock and it jolted her so bad that she chipped a tooth.

I dont need anything crazy, i just need some front suspension to take the edge off, something low priced. What do I need to get? Size? Travel? Do I need to up grade the headset?

From the looks of it, there's going to be some cutting involved, like the steerer tube just below the stem. It's a 1-1/8" headtube, so your good there.

Marzocchi MX Pro Series, Rochshox Judy, You can go Manitou as well for not that much cash.

I wouldn't go longer than 100mm, maybe even 80mm from the looks of it.

Yes, you need to upgrade the headset.

I have an old RockShox elastometer fork that came stock on a 1998-ish Trek. Nothing fancy, but it goes "boing" when you hit a bump, and I never chipped a tooth while using it! I might have an older Race Face stem as well, and from the looks of that pic, you'd need it.

Price? Errr...Umm...a PowerBar and a Diet Pepsi? I dunno - make offer! Pickup would be in South Central OC
