I saw a few older threads from people in or visiting Ladera, but figured I would make a new one to get some exposure.

We just moved to Ladera from the Daley Ranch area of San Diego. I'm typically more of a solo rider, but would like to get together with some locals to learn the surrounding trails and meet some like-minded neighbors. I ride both road and mountain and would say I'm intermediate/advanced. I climb better than I descend, but I can hold my own going down chunky stuff.

I'd be looking to ride primarily on the weekends and in the weekday evenings when possible. You show me the trails, I'll supply the beer.

There is a group called Venture Outer Zone / VOZ (ventureouterzone.com) that does road and MTB rides near you. You can also search AMTR on meetup.com which is another group that does rides all over OC. I usually ride with SOCMTBR / South OC MTN bikers which is on Facebook under SOCMTBR

Thanks for the info! I've managed to get a few road and mountain rides in since the move and like what I've seen out here so far.

Hello, fellow Ladera Ranchero...

Been here 16 years, and riding for 6 or 7. Some fun trails, not much gnar though, if you're into that sort of thing. Unfortunately this last storm appears to have done a number on Arroyo Trabuco, which makes up part of a nice loop through O'Neill Park and back down Tijeras Creek. Might not be rideable for a while because parts of the trail become secondary stream bed. But Tijeras Creek should be in good shape in a day or two.

The nice thing about living here is you can actually put in some pretty high miles with limited pavement. You could ride from here to the top of Santiago Peak if you're so inclined, crossing pavement only briefly, or through O'Neill and over to Whiting Ranch.

Hit me up, if you don't mind going slow. I'm usually a mid-day rider (work from home), but can probably ride whenever.

Welcome! I don't live in Ladera, but own a gym there, so ride around there all the time.

If you're looking for a ride this weekend, there's a couple of us shuttling San Juan. Meeting at the fire station off Ortega @ 7:30ish on Saturday. We'll shuttle up to Blue Jay then a couple hours of fun if u wanna join. All different ability levels going so you're more than welcome to join.
