That lady always gives me the evil eye when I pass her, even after I say hi to her and yield. I guess she feels that Oaks belongs to her. I've seen her cut the trail up from Bumblebee to the ridge before.

So...we all know who this is and that its unpleasant to have run-ins with her. Every other equestrian I've encountered in Oaks and Irvine Regional has been more than nice when we observe the yield-to rules.

Perhaps its time to mention to some of the other regular equestrians that we all get along with (and enjoy mutual respect) that newbie trail users keep coming across this person with negative results

Nothing like a little equestrian peer pressure to help resolve the issue.

How about if everyone just start taking pictures and videos of her and sending them to the rangers, and make sure she hears you say "yea.. That's the lady posted on that website, that can't understand normal thinking"

I feel sorry for the horse - it has to carry that miserable old witch around and be happy about it.

Pictures will help. If anyone takes the time to send me pictures of her cutting trails I will send them to County Parks and to the rangers. I will also send them the OC Trails Coordinator. In fact I will be relentless in flooding them with pictures and stories until something is done.
Please send them to me at [email protected] . Videos would be great too.

Email sent this morning to OCParks, SORP, Trails4All, several equestrian groups. I also have a name, and You Tube video of her but will not post it until I am certain it is her.

Please put some pants on her while you're at it.

Thank you very much to everyone who supported this post. Our voices have been heard and the problem will soon be resolved. Until then I will refrain from stirring the pot any further.

    Updates to follow.

Didn't the horsey people pay for the recent trail revisions at oaks? I seem to remember reading that somewhere.

Anyways, that lady, kill with kindness is always my tact.

I spoke to the ranger at Santiago Oaks this morning about this ongoing situation.

    Here's what going to happen.

Split-rail fencing will be added to close off the illegal trails that cut the switchbacks on Deer Trail.
Trail Closed / Habitat Restoration signs will be added at these locations.
Some of the switchbacks on Deer Trail are too tight for the equestrians to negotiate, especially the ones closer to the Anaheim Hills Trail. These will be revised with a greater radius.

Also, there are similar illegal trails on Mountain Goat Trail. Split-rail fencing will be added to close these off and signs installed.

    Some key points to remember:
Finger pointing at other user groups rarely has any sort of desired effect.
The Oaks belongs to all of us equally. Us being bikers, hikers, runners and equestrians.

    What can you do?
If you see problems or issues in the park, contact the park ranger directly.
The park office phone number is 714-973-6620.

Volunteer to help install the split-rail fencing.
The work date has not been set, but it will be in the next couple of weeks.
Look for it in the SHARE website & emails. I will post it here on STR as well.

I heard that they were privately paid for by a local mountain biker (I know his name but don't know if he wants it made public as I heard this second hand). I don't know if he paid for all or just some of the new trails at Oaks and/or IRP.

I WOULD NOT OPEN THAT CAN OF WORMS! If you do some research you will find more people are injured by out of
control Mountain Bikers than are hurt by horses . Logic can sometimes bite us on the ass when we try to apply
it without careful thought to it's consequences !

Fixing the trails for equestrians and having mtn bikers fix the trail damage should send a strong message to Angry Equestrian Lady that her actions will not be tolerated.
